JBL's latest Live 4 earbuds are available in three designs and feature a more advanced case with an integrated display.
JBL has refreshed its Live earbuds range with three new models named the Live Buds 4, Live Beam 4, and Live Flex 4. This trio features various fits, including sealed in-ear buds and a more open stem-style design.
Each model is equipped with a touchscreen charging case that allows for personalization and quick access to earbud controls typically found within the JBL Headphones app.

What capabilities does the smart case offer?
A charging case with an integrated display is not entirely novel for JBL, as the concept was previously used in the Live 3 series. However, the Live 4 lineup features a larger screen and incorporates JBL’s new Smart OS 3.0 software. The enhanced case supports swipe functionality, enabling users to swipe in various directions to view notifications, skip tracks, modify EQ settings, and toggle frequently used features.
Additionally, there are more customization options available. Users can place preferred controls on the home screen, select from new background themes, or set a personal image as the case background.

Which Live 4 model is right for you?
The primary distinction lies in the fit. The Live Buds 4 feature a compact in-ear design with silicone tips. The Live Beam 4 showcases a stem-style configuration with ear tips for a sealed fit. Conversely, the Live Flex 4 adopts a stem design that rests in the outer ear without silicone tips, providing a more comfortable choice for individuals who prefer not to have their ears plugged.
All three models support Hi-Res Audio, JBL Signature Sound, JBL Spatial Sound, Personi-Fi 3.0, Personal Sound Amplification, and Low Volume EQ. The Buds 4 and Beam 4 utilize 10mm dynamic drivers, while the Flex 4 is equipped with larger 12mm drivers.

Noise cancellation has seen an upgrade with 4-mic True Adaptive Noise Cancelling 2.0. Call quality has also improved due to the addition of six microphones, a wind-resistant design, and AI noise reduction technology that JBL claims can reduce disruptions from traffic, fan noise, and even a closing door.
Battery life differs across models. With ANC deactivated, JBL states the Live Buds 4 can last up to 40 hours, the Live Beam 4 up to 48 hours, and the Live Flex 4 up to 50 hours. All three models are available on jbl.com for €199.99. The Beam 4 and Flex 4 are offered in Black, Blue, Green, Silver, Orange, Purple, and Sand, while the Buds 4 come in Black, Blue, Silver, and Sand.
