The company GIGABYTE, a well-known manufacturer of computer hardware, has announced the AERO X16 laptop. The new product is positioned as an ultra-thin device for those who need mobility, modern neural networks, and the ability to create something. It combines everything that is currently trendy in one case.
Inside the new model, an AMD Ryzen AI 9 465 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop graphics card with a TGP of 85W are installed. The amount of RAM is 12GB. The idea is that this will be enough for local neural network launches, games with DLSS 4.5, and other joys of life. Particularly discerning gamers will be able to enjoy a slightly more beautiful picture in AAA projects.
Hello, Copilot+ and the proprietary GiMATE
In addition to the standard features of Copilot+ such as image generation, style changes for images, and live subtitles with translation, the company has added its own AI assistant. It is called GiMATE. It is designed to manage the laptop's settings and, apparently, to alleviate the developer's loneliness. The GiMATE Creator module helps generate images without internet access, while GiMATE Coder integrates into Visual Studio Code and promises to speed up code debugging based on text queries. However, how well it performs will only be shown by tests.
Cooling and thin body – an eternal problem
The thickness of the laptop is 16.75 mm, and it weighs 1.9 kg. Engineers have attempted to fit the WINDFORCE Infinity cooling system, designed for a thermal package of up to 100W, into such a flat case. It uses two thin fans, four heat pipes, and clever airflow distribution. In idle mode, the fans turn off completely. They also promise cooling for the WASD keys – apparently for particularly heated battles.
Screen
The display is IPS with an aspect ratio of 16:10, a resolution of 2.5K, and a refresh rate of 165Hz. It covers 100% of sRGB and has Pantone certification. The latter means that color reproduction should not distort images. The useful screen area is 92%, there is a TÜV Rheinland certificate for eye protection, and support for Dolby Atmos, making it convenient for watching movies and working. Battery and appearance
It is claimed to have up to 14 hours of battery life and fast charging. In practice, these figures usually depend only on the wild imagination of marketers, but the manufacturer at least tries to increase the working time. The Golden Curve keyboard has enlarged keys and dynamic RGB backlighting. The new model will be offered in two colors: Lunar White and Space Gray. The surface of the case is anodized with sandblasting, and the lid features a shimmering plate with the logo; all together it looks expensive and prestigious, though this is already a matter of personal taste for each user.
Overall, the GIGABYTE AERO X16 strives to be simultaneously thin, powerful, smart, and beautiful. Whether it has succeeded will be known when the laptop reaches real users and tests.
