GIGABYTE considers the 18'' screen to be the new thin and mobile standard.

The company has introduced the GAMING A18 PRO laptop, which attempts to combine screen size with a modest thickness. Inside are modern chips, an AI assistant, and a couple of interesting cooling solutions.

The novelty is positioned as suitable for everyone. It is considered appropriate for those who only watch clips online, hardcore gamers, perpetually rushed students, and even video editors who always find screen space insufficient.

The main feature of the model is the large screen in a relatively thin body. Only 20 millimeters thick. By gaming standards, this is indeed almost elegant, but it’s hard to call the laptop a "feather."

      What’s under the hood

The movement is powered by an Intel Core 7 processor (240H series) and a graphics card up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU. Moreover, the latter is optional, so there won’t be any miracles for the budget. The claimed TGP support is at 115W, which should ensure a stable image even after several hours of gaming.

      How it doesn’t overheat

Cooling is handled by the WINDFORCE INFINITY EX system. The loud name hides two fans and the 3D VortX technology, which circulates air in three dimensions. When the laptop has nothing to do, it goes into a silent mode of 0 dB — you can pretend it’s not there. For the WASD keys, an Icy Touch zone has been designed so that fingers don’t get burned during long raids.

      The useful assistant GiMATE

Separately, the company praises the AI assistant GiMATE. It can listen to voice commands, switch performance modes, power settings, and even control the backlighting. Additionally, it allows you to click the MUX Switch without delving into the depths of settings. Essentially, it’s software that handles the routine for you so you can calmly facepalm at yet another loot.

      Picture and sound

The A18 PRO features an 18-inch screen with a resolution of 2.5K and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. The response time is 3 ms. Your eyes will appreciate the smoothness, and advanced users will value the color coverage of up to 100% DCI-P3. Sound is handled by Dolby Atmos. The manufacturers promise an immersive effect, but we’ll leave that to the marketers' conscience.

      On portability

Despite the giant display, the laptop, at 20 mm thick, still tries to appear mobile. The keyboard has a curved shape called Golden Curvature (sounds like the name of elite coffee), enlarged keys, and a travel distance of 1.7 mm. Plus, the lid opens to 180 degrees. Convenient if you’re planning to watch a presentation with six people on your lap or show a model to a client in a cramped café.
