Opera One enhances video watching by offering a 500% volume boost, upgraded Picture-in-Picture (PiP) functionality, and support for streaming through the sidebar.
Your Opera browser has received a significant update, and you'll be pleased with the enhancements.
Opera One has just launched an update that makes it an improved choice for both video enthusiasts and remote workers. This update integrates YouTube and Twitch into the sidebar, introduces a built-in volume booster that increases audio levels up to 500%, and completely revamps the Picture-in-Picture mode.
YouTube and Twitch now featured in the sidebar
If you enjoy watching streams or tutorials while working, you understand the frustration of constantly switching tabs. Opera One addresses this issue by providing one-click access to YouTube and Twitch directly from the sidebar. You can pin the panel for a side-by-side view or pop out the video into a floating overlay that you can place anywhere on your screen.
A volume booster reaching up to 500%
We've all encountered situations where we find an excellent old tutorial or lecture, but the audio is so low that you have to lean in close to hear it. While many users resort to third-party volume-boosting extensions, these often present their own issues, including potential security warnings.
Opera One is the first major browser to incorporate a built-in volume booster that reaches 500%. Additionally, it allows for per-tab audio control. You can keep background music at a low level while maximizing the sound for a quiet video in another tab.
Enhanced picture-in-picture for remote work
The Video Popout feature has been entirely redesigned. It now accommodates any video conferencing applications compatible with PiP, such as Zoom. You also receive per-site controls for Auto-PiP permissions instead of a universal toggle, and the floating window now conforms to your Opera One theme.
If you're often managing video calls alongside browser tabs, this update is definitely worth checking out.

Astronauts aboard the ISS are receiving an upgrade to their laptops from HP
The International Space Station is set to undergo a significant refresh of its HP laptops.
Few things are more exasperating than a sluggish, unresponsive laptop, and I can't imagine dealing with one while living and working on a space station. Even astronauts are not exempt from the slow decline of aging laptops, prompting NASA to plan a major upgrade. The Expedition 74 crew has recently assessed a comprehensive computer upgrade for the station, beginning with the replacement of network servers and followed by the deployment of “new, more powerful laptop computers” on the International Space Station.
Meta’s recent surveillance initiatives are so unsettling that I'm at a loss for words.
Meta aims to monitor every click, keystroke, and mouse movement of its employees, with their job potentially depending on it.
Having covered technology for many years, I've witnessed companies take questionable actions in the name of progress. However, Meta's latest initiative may top them all. According to a report from Reuters, Meta is implementing tracking software on its employees' work computers. This tool, referred to as the Model Capability Initiative (MCI), will record mouse movements, clicks, and keystrokes, and will occasionally capture screenshots of employees’ screens.
Workspace Intelligence transforms Gemini into an omniscient, multifunctional AI assistant for your work.
A few weeks ago, Google introduced a new feature called Personal Intelligence. Essentially, it allows Gemini to access content saved in your Gmail inbox and Photos library. When you inquire about travel plans, projects, or any related topics, the AI will seamlessly reference your stored information to provide useful responses, without needing any context from you.
It simply knows you.
