Are you prepared for smartphones featuring an enormous 11,000mAh battery? Honor may be about to deliver that.
Battery anxiety is genuinely a concern for me; it absolutely is. You know the sensation—you're in the middle of a long day, and your phone drops to 20%, turning every notification into a potential crisis. Honor seems to have recognized this issue and is fully committed to addressing it. A leak from Digital Chat Station reveals that Honor is trialing a new battery with a rated capacity of 10,690mAh, equating to a typical capacity of 11,000mAh, intended for a smartphone. I'm really looking forward to this.
This isn’t the first time Honor has dealt with large batteries.
To give credit where it's due, Honor has been diligently exploring the high-capacity battery market for some time. Earlier this year, the Honor Power 2 debuted with a 10,080mAh cell and 80W wired charging, capable of providing around 14 hours of gaming and over 17 hours of navigation on a single charge. Prior to that, the Honor Win and Win RT were introduced last December, equipped with 10,000mAh batteries and a more impressive 100W wired charging speed. Thus, when a source like Digital Chat Station suggests on Weibo that an 11,000mAh battery is undergoing trial production, it’s not entirely surprising. Honor has been progressively working toward this development.
The details are still a bit unclear. The source did not explicitly name the device, but many in the comment section believe it’s intended for the successor to the Honor Power 2, presumably the Honor Power 3. Given that the Power series is fundamentally about endurance, this makes perfect sense. The Honor Power 2 already serves as a strong foundation, running on a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Elite chip, featuring a 6.79-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, and rated IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K. A phone capable of enduring a pressure wash and lasting for two days on a single charge sounds more like a survival tool than just a smartphone.
The rest of the industry is also striving to keep pace.
Honor is not the only player in this battery competition. OnePlus has recently launched the Nord 6, which includes a 9,000mAh battery, while Realme incorporated an 8,000mAh cell into the C100 4G. Companies are finally prioritizing battery life over simply reducing thickness and branding it as innovation. However, an 11,000mAh battery would place Honor in a category of its own, at least for the time being. That’s not merely a large battery; it’s a battery that could make you question the necessity of a power bank.
So, should you be excited? Cautiously, yes. Trial production indicates that the hardware is in existence in some capacity, but it remains early in the process. What is clear is that Honor has the momentum, history, and engineering expertise to make this happen. If the Power 3—whatever it is ultimately called—comes equipped with an 11,000mAh battery, fast charging, and a solid chip, it could completely alter the perception of what “all-day battery” means.
