I always carry an iPhone 17 Pro. This isn’t because it’s the only phone I like; rather, I’m deeply integrated into Apple’s ecosystem and frequently test experimental apps and beta OS builds. It’s a fantastic phone, but my extensive usage leads to significant battery drain.
To add to the challenge, I prefer working outdoors—café settings, parks, and beyond. Carrying a charging kit is cumbersome, and my jeans pockets are not fond of bulky power banks. This situation puts my iPhone’s battery life at risk. Perhaps a small, convenient, and versatile solution could help.
There are indeed products that fit this description, which led me to the Baseus PicoGo AM31 Mini Magnetic Power Bank with Stand 20W 5000mAh. Although the name is quite lengthy, let's refer to it as the Baseus PicoGo AM31, as it is compact and effectively serves its purpose—with a bit of heating.
**Baseus PicoGo AM31 Design:** You’ll appreciate its compactness
**Summary:** The impressively small design, lightweight feel, and durable construction come with some excellent additional features.
One of the main reasons to choose the Baseus PicoGo AM31 wireless power bank is its size and weight. Weighing just over 140 grams and boasting a compact design, it can easily fit into almost any pocket of your outfit or bag, as evidenced by its ability to fit into the small pocket of my jeans.
If you prefer not to carry a bag filled with devices and cables, and rely on your laptop (and phone) to last through an outdoor work session away from charging ports, the Baseus PicoGo AM31 should be an ideal companion.
You can shake your iPhone without the power bank detaching.
Another key advantage is the built-in magnet, which is quite strong. Throughout my usage, the power bank remained securely attached to my iPhone 17 Pro and Google Pixel 10 Pro, both equipped with magnetic rings beneath the glass surface. The same held true even when using a case.
I tested Apple’s TechWoven Case for the iPhone 17 Pro and the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Neo One (Mag Fit) for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The magnetic connection was consistently strong, and there was never a moment when the Baseus power bank slipped from the phone’s protective shell. You could hold the power bank in a vertical position, with the phone hanging off it.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks to consider. Not all phones fit well with the power bank; devices featuring large or high camera protrusions close to the charging coil may encounter issues. The Pixel 10 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro fit perfectly, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra does not, as shown in the accompanying image.
Secondly, the position of the USB-C port can be inconvenient. The kickstand provides valuable support whether you’re scrolling social media or watching videos horizontally, but when used in portrait mode, tapping on the screen causes the phone to topple over.
The USB-C port's awkward position presents a further challenge. While the kickstand is in use, the port is at the bottom, preventing charging. It
