A leak from Nvidia suggests an unrestricted RAM scenario for the forthcoming N1 laptop processors.

      NVIDIA’s much-discussed N1 chip has surfaced once again in an unofficial capacity, and if this recent leak holds any truth, the future of laptops could become quite intriguing. A listing discovered on a Chinese resale site seems to display an engineering sample motherboard featuring Nvidia's forthcoming System-on-Chip. While it isn’t an official announcement, and a degree of skepticism is certainly justified, the information is hard to overlook.

      A glimpse at NVIDIA’s upcoming major advancement

      The listing, believed to be shared by a user on X, presents what looks like a prototype motherboard centered around the N1 chip. Its design suggests it's geared toward laptops, though there's a slight possibility it could also be suited for a tablet-like device. Regardless, it aligns with previous reports indicating that Nvidia aims to develop thinner, more efficient gaming machines with this new chip. If that’s the goal, Nvidia is clearly aiming high.

      One of the most notable aspects here is the memory layout. The board appears to host eight RAM modules surrounding the N1 processor, amounting to a total of 128GB. This configuration indicates a more adaptable approach to memory than what is typically found in standard laptop chips. Whether this will materialize in actual devices or remain a feature of early prototypes is still uncertain, but it does imply that Nvidia is not being conservative in its design approach.

Should the N1 achieve high performance while facilitating slimmer designs, it could drastically change our expectations for gaming laptops.
