Marvel has just unveiled the trailer for Punisher: One Last Kill, and here’s what you should know.

Marvel Television has just released the first trailer for The Punisher: One Last Kill, delivering the intense experience one would expect from a character unafraid to take risks.

Jon Bernthal is reprising his role as Frank Castle this month on Disney+, and the trailer suggests he is burdened by significant issues heading into this installment.

The official synopsis portrays Frank as someone “seeking meaning beyond revenge when an unexpected force draws him back into the fray.” That's about all the information Marvel is sharing at this point.

A breakdown of the Punisher: One Last Kill trailer suggests a significant villain reveal.

The trailer begins with Frank in a vulnerable, raw state, clearly struggling with his history. His old friend Curtis Hoyle appears, attempting to encourage Frank to talk about his current circumstances.

Curtis’s sporadic appearances create uncertainty around his status, although he survived the Netflix Punisher series and is presumed to be alive.

Frank is depicted in isolation, appearing to be in a lockdown scenario with guards around him, indicating he might be in custody or under surveillance at certain moments in the narrative.

The trailer then transitions through a series of intense sequences. Flashbacks illustrate Frank’s young daughter in their family home, revisiting the tragedy that initially transformed him into the Punisher.

There’s a poignant scene showing Frank placing a red flower at a grave for Lisa Barbara, his daughter, with a watch resting on the grave marker. These are the first glimpses of Frank’s family in years within this iteration of the character’s tale. Curtis’s voice rings out with a blunt warning, telling Frank he stands no chance against what is ahead.

Following that, the trailer fully embraces the Punisher theme. Frank goes on a rampage against foes using powerful weapons and brute strength, leaping off buildings and shooting through anyone in his way.

The closing image of the trailer is the one fans have been eagerly awaiting. Frank is standing in his complete Punisher outfit including the skull vest, in front of a place called Gnucci’s Restaurant. This detail is significant because it suggests that the primary antagonist in Punisher: One Last Kill is likely Ma Gnucci.

For those unfamiliar with Punisher comics, Ma Gnucci is one of Frank Castle’s most notable foes. In the comics, she is the cold-blooded head of the Gnucci crime family, a formidable crime lord based in New York City.

After Frank eliminates her sons, she retaliates with a full-blown war against him, leading to one of the most chaotic and violent story arcs in Punisher lore. Notably, she is often depicted in a wheelchair, making her physically vulnerable but equally dangerous.

Her readiness to unleash her entire criminal empire upon Frank establishes her as a credible and personal threat. Although no actor has been assigned her role at this time, the appearance of Gnucci’s Restaurant in the trailer’s closing scene suggests her involvement is quite likely.

The cast of Punisher: One Last Kill features Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, a role he initially took on in the Netflix Daredevil series before leading his own two-season Punisher show. Returning alongside him is Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle, Frank’s closest ally and a former US Navy member.

Curtis’s presence in both seasons of the original Netflix Punisher series brings important emotional depth to the storyline. The special is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who co-wrote the script with Bernthal, who also serves as an executive producer.

Punisher: One Last Kill is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. PT and 9 p.m. ET. This special presentation will debut a week after the finale of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

Moreover, this year will not be the last time audiences see Frank Castle. The Punisher is expected to feature in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, releasing on July 31, 2026.

It remains unclear whether Frank will have a substantial role or serve as a supporting character in Spider-Man BND. Nevertheless, the prospect of the Punisher and Spider-Man sharing a storyline is thrilling, and after witnessing what One Last Kill seems to be setting up, I'm very eager to see what unfolds.
