Google Photos is now finally accessible on Samsung TVs.

Your memories, now displayed on the largest screen in your home.

For years, accessing Google Photos on a TV has been unnecessarily complex. You had to either cast from your phone, rely on screensavers, or give up altogether. However, that is finally changing.

Having teased this feature before, Google has now officially announced on their support channel that Google Photos is coming to Samsung TVs. This will offer direct access to your photo library right on your large screen, requiring no workarounds.

How does Google Photos function on Samsung TVs?

This isn't simply a basic gallery application; it represents a deeper integration. The rollout begins with a feature named “Memories,” which automatically organizes your photos and videos into collections based on individuals, locations, and moments. Essentially, it provides the same experience as on your phone, just expanded for your TV.

Just log in with your Google account, and your photos will appear immediately, transforming your TV into a living room photo frame. Notably, Samsung is receiving this feature first, even ahead of Google’s own Android TV platform getting a dedicated Google Photos app.

Why this is more significant than it may appear

At first glance, this may seem like a minor update; however, it addresses a long-standing shortcoming. Despite Google Photos being one of the most popular photo services, there has never been a suitable TV experience for it. This development elevates photos to a primary feature on your TV rather than an afterthought.

Moreover, it doesn’t stop at just displaying photos. By the end of 2026, Samsung TVs are anticipated to receive extra features like AI-driven edits, themed slideshows, and even converting photos into short videos, enhancing the interactivity of the experience. Ultimately, this isn’t just about viewing photos on a larger screen but about making your TV feel more personalized. It’s somewhat surprising that it took this long to materialize.

You’re wasting money on audiophile cables, new tests indicate

A $7 cable performed comparably to a $4,000 option in lab measurements and listening evaluations. New test results suggest that you’re wasting money on audiophile cables. A controlled comparison between a low-cost RCA cable and a high-end model priced at thousands revealed no significant change in sound quality. This conclusion arises from laboratory-grade measurements combined with listening assessments. The results challenge the long-standing belief that more expensive cables enhance audio quality.
