Apple is finally allowing iPhones to play with some colors.
MacRumors / MacRumors
The iPhone 17 Pro series introduced a notable design change, and it seems Apple isn’t finished with this trend yet. This design aesthetic is anticipated to carry into the iPhone 18 Pro series as well. However, what could change is Apple’s approach to color. There are rumors that the 18 Pro series may feature a much more vibrant and playful color palette, which would be a refreshing development. It's genuinely thrilling to think that Apple might finally embrace a more relaxed and fun approach.
A vibrant refresh with some surprises
I must say, the Maroon finish appears gorgeous, at least based on the images we've seen thus far. If it looks just as good in real life, it could very well be my choice. It’s one of those colors that feels fresh without being overly flashy, and honestly, it’s high time Apple ventured into this territory more.

In addition to the new colors, some intriguing design modifications are rumored for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Reports indicate that the Dynamic Island size may decrease, focusing on adjustments to the left side where the TrueDepth camera and Face ID sensors are located. If this occurs, it could result in a slightly cleaner, less obtrusive appearance on the front. There’s also speculation about Apple potentially placing Face ID beneath the display, which would constitute a significant change. However, this aspect remains largely unconfirmed, so it’s wise to take it with a grain of skepticism for now.
The deliberate Apple approach
To be honest, the changes from Apple aren’t groundbreaking by any means. There’s always a sense that the company could achieve much more, yet year after year, it opts for smaller, more calculated updates, reserving the larger, dramatic changes for another time. This slow-burning strategy has become its signature style.

Not everyone appreciates this approach, of course. Some individuals find it frustrating and desire Apple to take greater risks. On the other hand, some people prefer things to remain as they are and don't want significant changes to their iPhones. That balance is likely why Apple maintains this pace. It keeps elements familiar while introducing just enough alterations to feel fresh, or at least that’s one perspective. Nevertheless, there’s still a sense of excitement each year. You never truly know which minor adjustment could significantly enhance daily usage. Personally, I’m eager to see how everything comes together this time. If the updates feel substantial enough, I might even contemplate switching from an iPhone 17 to one of the newer Pro models.
