WhatsApp has finally enabled iPhone users to use two accounts on a single device.
One update, four improvements: WhatsApp introduces dual iPhone accounts, enhanced storage management, effortless cross-platform transfers, and integrated Meta AI tools.
WhatsApp has launched a significant update on March 26, which raises the question of why it took so long. The update brings four major features: smarter storage management, the ability to transfer chats across platforms, Meta AI tools, and, most notably, the option to use dual accounts on iPhone.

iPhone users can finally leave their second phone behind
Indeed, it’s about time. Apple users can now operate two WhatsApp accounts on one iPhone, removing the necessity for a second phone—whether it’s another iPhone or an Android device—to separate work and personal communications. Android users have had this capability since 2023, for those who are just catching up.
With this feature, a profile picture displayed in the tab bar indicates which account is currently in use (similar to profile pictures on Instagram). This familiar setup is practical, as it will help avoid sending a meme intended for a friend to your boss.
Next, WhatsApp addresses a common issue caused by media-heavy group chats: storage space overload on phones. Users can now locate and delete large files directly within any chat. To utilize this, tap the chat name, select Manage Storage, and remove files that are consuming too much space.
This feature is quite beneficial as it allows you to declutter without losing the entire conversation. You can opt to delete only media files (photos and videos), while keeping your text history intact.

What happens to your chats when you change phones?
The answer: nothing gets left behind anymore. The newly updated chat transfer tool now allows users to move conversations from iOS to Android, as well as within the same platform, bringing along messages, photos, and videos with just a few taps.
Lastly, users can now leverage Meta AI to edit photos before sending them. This tool can assist in removing distractions, changing backgrounds, and applying different styles. Additionally, a writing assistant can offer suggested replies based on the context of the conversation. Rest assured, the platform emphasizes that chats remain completely private.
