According to CheatHappens, a newly uncovered patent from Sony outlines a hybrid input system that would attach a smartphone to a PlayStation controller via a magnetic attachment.
In this setup, the phone acts as a second controller, giving developers access to its camera, gyroscope, touchscreen, and other sensors, fostering entirely new gameplay experiences.
What motivates this patent?
The patent presents a compelling argument. Standard controllers excel in specific genres like racing games, where physical buttons and triggers are advantageous, but they fall short in first-person shooters.
