Samsung introduces its browser to PC, packed with numerous exciting features.
One browser to manage your phone, your PC, and the countless tabs you currently have open.
Samsung has officially introduced the Samsung Browser for Windows, which is more than just the desktop counterpart of your phone’s browser. It features cross-device continuity and a genuinely useful AI assistant.
Continuity browsing to help manage your tabs
The Samsung Browser for Windows allows you to pick up right where you left off on your mobile device. It doesn’t just sync bookmarks or history; it lets you continue on the same webpage as you switch from your Samsung phone to your PC.
This means you won’t have to reopen the same tab on different devices anymore. You can begin browsing on your mobile and effortlessly continue on your desktop, and vice versa.
Samsung Pass transfers over as well, enabling smooth signing in and autofilling your information across both devices.
What AI features are included?
This is where things get intriguing. The Samsung Browser has an integrated AI assistant powered by Perplexity, which goes beyond simply answering basic questions.
The AI assistant is contextually aware of the webpage you’re visiting. For example, if you're planning a trip to Seoul and have a travel website open, you can ask the assistant to generate an itinerary; it will read the page content and compile that itinerary for you.
It also works with video content, understanding the video's subject matter and helping you locate specific sections without wasting time searching. Just inquire about what information you need, and it will fetch it for you.
Searching your browsing history has received a long-overdue enhancement. Instead of scrolling through dates or trying to remember keywords, you can use natural language queries, such as “find that smartwatch I was looking at last week,” and it will locate it for you.
Another feature I appreciate is that the assistant operates across your tabs. Instead of clicking through numerous pages to compare products or prices, the Samsung Browser can summarize and contrast content across all your open tabs simultaneously.
The Samsung Browser is currently available for Windows 10 (version 1809 and later) and Windows 11. The AI features are now available in South Korea and the United States, with plans for broader market support in the near future.

It turns out that instructing an AI to pose as an expert can lead to less reliable responses, though researchers may have discovered a solution. You may have encountered the advice urging users to ask AI to act as an expert for more accurate answers; it can work at times. However, a new study suggests that using AI personas might not be as effective as previously believed. Researchers from the University of California evaluated 12 different personas across six language models, ranging from math and coding specialists to creative writers and safety monitors, aiming to assess AI's performance when instructed to act as an expert.
