On March 24, 2026, Apple launched iOS 26.4, the fourth significant version in the iOS 26 upgrade series. This latest operating system for the iPhone, which requires 16.46 GB of space on my iPhone 17, includes a variety of new features.
You can download it on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

iOS 26.4 enhances Apple Music
Firstly, iOS 26.4 introduces Playlist Playground (beta), an innovative Apple Music feature that employs AI to create complete playlists, including titles, descriptions, and tracklists, based on a simple text prompt. All you need to do is describe the mood, and Apple Music will do the rest.
A new Concerts feature in the app displays local performances from artists in your library and recommends new artists you might enjoy seeing live, tailored to your musical preferences and listening behavior—ideal for discovering underrated talent.
The Offline Music Recognition feature can identify songs without the need for cellular data or Wi-Fi, providing results quietly once you are online again. Additionally, there's a new Ambient Music widget that provides curated playlists for different moods—like sleep, relaxation, productivity, and well-being—right from your home screen.

What other features does the software update provide?
In addition to the Apple Music updates, iOS 26.4 includes eight new emojis, among them an orca, a trombone, a ballet dancer, a landslide, and my personal favorite, a wonderfully chaotic, distorted face. Freeform has received enhanced image creation and editing tools along with a premium content library via Apple’s Creator Studio.
You can now prioritize tasks as urgent directly from the Quick Toolbar or by long-pressing in the Reminders app. The update also improves keyboard accuracy when typing quickly, a subtle enhancement that is immediately noticeable after installing iOS 26.4.
With iOS 26.4, adult members in a Family Sharing group can utilize their own payment methods for purchases, eliminating the need to process everything through the organizer. This is another appreciated modification for Family users.
There are also several accessibility improvements. A new Reduce Bright Effects setting mitigates flashes when pressing buttons, and discreet controls are now available directly through the captions icon while watching media. The Reduce Motion setting minimizes Liquid Glass animations in a more noticeable manner.
