If you opt for the truly budget-friendly option from some lower-end edge-lit TVs lacking the newer, improved processors and backlighting systems, you might end up with a TV that isn't as good as other available options.       My main concern is… do you actually need it? The Hisense U8QG provides much of what the U9 does, including a peak brightness of 5000 nits, which is often more than sufficient for most users. Therefore, you might save some money by choosing the U8 instead of the U9.

      Currently, the price difference isn't that significant; you’d only save about $100, but it's nice to see this TV positioned in a substantial price and performance range between the U8QG and the more expensive options in the 2025 lineup, which includes a $25,000 116-inch RGB backlit TV and pricier Micro LED alternatives.
