The Microsoft PowerToys update introduces three significant enhancements for your Windows PC.

PowerToys 0.98 has been launched, featuring an enhanced Keyboard Manager, a dockable Command Palette, and improved CursorWrap functionality for multi-monitor users.

Microsoft has announced the release of PowerToys v0.98.0, a significant upgrade to its well-known productivity toolkit for Windows.

This version introduces a redesigned Keyboard Manager, a new Command Palette Dock, and a notably better CursorWrap experience for those using multiple monitors.

What improvements does the new Keyboard Manager offer?

Primarily, the updated Keyboard Manager (now in preview) is completely re-engineered with WinUI 3. Users no longer have to switch between two separate windows, as they can now manage both key and shortcut remappings in a single unified interface.

Individual toggle switches allow users to quickly enable or disable specific remappings without deleting them. Additionally, a new hotkey (Win + Shift + K) enables users to turn the Keyboard Manager on or off as needed.

In addition to the revamped Keyboard Manager, the Command Palette (in preview) can now dock consistently on any screen edge—top, bottom, left, or right—offering immediate access to pinned commands, applications, and extensions without the need to open the entire palette. Users can easily right-click to rearrange or remove items.

What enhancements does the improved CursorWrap bring for multi-monitor users?

The existing wrapping engine has been completely rewritten to better manage complex monitor setups. Users now have the option to restrict wrapping so that it only activates while holding Ctrl or Shift, or they can turn it off altogether when using a single display.

Furthermore, the Always On Top feature receives a user-friendly enhancement, allowing users to pin windows directly from the right-click menu on the title bar instead of relying solely on keyboard shortcuts.

Collectively, these updates provide Windows users with increased control over their desktop navigation. Whether it’s remapping keys for better accessibility, having essential tools just a click away, or managing cursor movement across multiple screens, this latest release reinforces Microsoft's commitment to making its operating system more adaptable to user workflows.

According to a Bloomberg report, Google has begun private testing of an early version of the Gemini Mac app with select users.
