The Chinese smartphone maker has introduced two new models in its home market — the OnePlus Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V — both equipped with an impressive 9,000 mAh battery. In a marketplace where phones priced over $1,000 feature 5,000 mAh batteries, the OnePlus devices establish new records for battery endurance.

To provide some context, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, priced at $1,049.99, has a 5,000 mAh battery, and the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra is not expected to show major advancements in this aspect. Meanwhile, the $1,199 iPhone 17 Pro Max (eSIM version) includes a 5,088 mAh battery.

Even the newly released $899.99 OnePlus 15 and the $699.99 OnePlus 15R, recognized for having large batteries, come with 7,300 mAh and 7,400 mAh batteries, respectively. Nevertheless, the OnePlus Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V effectively redefine the benchmarks established by these models.

Both the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V, which are priced at under $350 when converted from their Chinese prices (for the base versions), include a 9,000 mAh battery, nearly equal to the combined capacity of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone Pro Max.

With such a substantial battery, the Turbo devices should comfortably last over a day between charges, leaving roughly 40-50% of the battery for the next day (depending on usage). This represents a genuine move toward normalizing two-day battery life in smartphones.

Additionally, the OnePlus phones support 80W wired charging, which may not seem significant for 9,000 mAh batteries, but it should still fully charge the device in approximately an hour and 30 minutes. This charging speed is faster than what most non-Chinese flagship phones offer in the U.S.

Regrettably, neither smartphone is currently available outside of China. There’s a strong possibility that the Turbo 6V will be included in the Nord lineup beyond China, but OnePlus has yet to confirm anything.

Regarding other specifications, the Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V both feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display that supports an exceptionally high refresh rate (165Hz for the Turbo 6 and 144Hz for the Turbo 6V). The Turbo 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC (also used in the Nothing Phone 3), whereas the Turbo 6V operates on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC.

Both models come in various memory and storage configurations: the Turbo 6 with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, and the Turbo 6V with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The cameras are similar across both devices, comprising a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP monochrome sensor, and a 16MP selfie camera.

The entry-level OnePlus Turbo 6 (12GB + 256GB) is priced at CNY 2299 in China, approximately $328, while the base Turbo 6V (8GB + 256GB) is priced at CNY 1899, around $271. These phones will be available for purchase in China starting January 8, 2026.

While the timeline for their release in the U.S. is uncertain, they are likely to influence consumer expectations concerning budget smartphones and inspire other manufacturers to enhance their battery capabilities.
