This recorder, about the size of a coin, aims to take note of your meetings for you.
Soundcore’s latest voice recorder unites AI summaries with a super-compact design
Anker's audio subsidiary, Soundcore, has just launched a new AI-enhanced voice recorder named Work at CES 2026. This product clearly targets professionals and students who are frustrated with switching between their smartphones and note-taking applications. While AI transcription isn't a novel concept, Soundcore is banking on the belief that a small, privacy-centric piece of dedicated hardware is exactly what people desire in busy meeting environments.
The Soundcore Work is designed to be unobtrusive. It's roughly comparable in size to a large coin, although slightly thicker, and can be worn in various ways. You can attach it to your lapel, affix it to a magnetic surface, or even wear it as a necklace. The goal is to make the recording process feel seamless and discreet, so you avoid being the person sitting with a large phone screen illuminated during an important interview or lecture.
Despite its small size, it is technologically advanced.
It features a dual-microphone array that captures surprisingly clear audio from across a room. This high-quality raw audio is key to its 97% transcription accuracy. Through the Soundcore app, users receive a complete text breakdown and an AI-generated summary that emphasizes the essential points of your meeting—effectively doing the tedious work for you.
A particularly smart feature is the “double-tap” function. If something noteworthy is mentioned, a quick double tap on the device flags that section. The AI then gives priority to that part during transcription and includes it in the summary, saving users time from sifting through lengthy recordings for a specific quote.
Soundcore seems to have also excelled with the tactile experience.
There is a physical button to start and stop recordings, ensuring you can feel when it clicks—no more uncertainty about whether the microphone is active. An orange-yellow indicator light and a subtle haptic feedback confirm silently that it’s functioning. Regarding security, it holds MFi certification and employs AES-256 encryption to ensure that your private conversations remain on your device rather than in an unidentified cloud.
The charging case is also cleverly designed. It's slim and charges via USB-C, featuring a magnetic back that easily attaches to MagSafe or Qi2 phones. While it doesn’t draw power from the phone, it keeps the recorder and your smartphone organized as one unit in your pocket. Small LEDs on the front indicate the remaining battery life of the case.
Additionally, it supports Apple’s Find My feature. If the small device slips between couch cushions or is forgotten in a classroom, you can easily track it with your iPhone. This is invaluable for such a compact accessory, although Android users are still awaiting a similar “Find My Device” option.
The Soundcore Work is priced at $159 and is available now. While it doesn't revolutionize the concept, it does enhance the design, making it smaller and more intelligent. The real challenge will be if Soundcore can expand Android support to make it as indispensable for everyone as it is for iPhone users.
