The Magic Screen will soon launch on Kickstarter.
Recent leaks indicate that Apple might finally reconsider its longstanding stance against touchscreen displays for MacBooks. The company is reportedly planning to include a touch-sensitive panel in the much-anticipated OLED MacBook Pro, expected to release later this year or early next year. For those interested in a touchscreen MacBook but weary of waiting for Apple to introduce one, Intricuit has devised a clever alternative.
At CES, the company introduced the Magic Screen, an accessory that adds touchscreen capabilities to existing MacBook models. This device magnetically attaches to the MacBook’s display and connects via USB-C, providing basic touch functionality instantly with no setup or third-party applications needed. However, more advanced features and customizations are accessible through the Magic Screen’s companion app.
The Magic Screen supports multitouch and includes a stylus that, as per Intricuit, provides pixel-perfect precision and pressure sensitivity for intricate workflows. When detached from the MacBook screen, it can also function as a pen tablet for enhanced ergonomic use.
The accessory is designed to provide touch input across a variety of applications. Intricuit has showcased it working with apps such as SketchUp, Miro, and Resolume Arena, in addition to touch-friendly games like Disco Elysium.
The Magic Screen is compatible with MacBook models from 2021 onwards.
According to Intricuit, the Magic Screen comes with a magnetic folio case that protects the accessory and securely affixes it to the MacBook, allowing users to carry it conveniently. It works with 2021 and newer MacBook Pro models, as well as 2022 and later MacBook Air models.
The Magic Screen will be available soon on Kickstarter, with early backers expected to receive shipments starting in Q1 2026. While pricing details have not yet been disclosed by Intricuit, potential buyers can sign up for early access, with prices beginning at $139 for early commitments.
