Acer believes you require a gaming monitor with a 1,000Hz refresh rate no matter the expense.
Following Samsung and HKC, the Taiwanese technology company Acer has introduced a new 1,000Hz gaming monitor. The Predator XB273U F6 was revealed at CES 2026. At first glance, it appears to be a standard 27-inch monitor, but it can effortlessly switch from a 500Hz refresh rate to 1,000Hz.
At the 500Hz refresh rate, the Acer Predator monitor delivers a native resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It also includes gaming-focused features like AMD FreeSync Premium and boasts a minimal response time of 0.5ms.

Acer’s 1,000Hz monitor compared to Samsung and HKC
The monitor features Acer’s “Dynamic Frequency and Resolution” (DFR) technology, enabling the refresh rate to increase from 500Hz to 1,000Hz. However, this adjustment involves a significant trade-off: at the higher refresh rate, the resolution drops to 1,280 x 720 pixels.
When comparing refresh rates, recent 1,000Hz gaming monitors (which are becoming increasingly popular) show varying capabilities. Samsung’s Odyssey G6 provides 600Hz at QHD and 1,040Hz at HD, while the HKC ANTGAMER MAX has a native refresh rate of 540Hz at 2K and 1,080Hz at 720p.
Thus, in both native and high refresh rate modes, the Acer Predator F6 lags behind the Samsung and HKC monitors. However, I don't see this as a disadvantage for two reasons. Firstly, even professional gamers may struggle to notice the difference between 1,000Hz and 1,080Hz.
Secondly, the slightly lower refresh rates in both modes could lead to a more affordable price, allowing more consumers to enjoy ultra-smooth refresh rates without spending excessively. Let me elaborate.
Acer
Currently, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (360Hz) is priced at $842.39 on Best Buy, down from the original price of $899.99, while the new 1,000Hz Acer Predator F6 (DP 1.4, HDMI 2.1) is set to retail for $799.99 in the U.S. when it launches in the second quarter of 2026.
But why are technology manufacturers suddenly emphasizing refresh rates? Higher refresh rates enable screens to display new frames more quickly, minimizing motion blur and input lag.
Admittedly, I still believe that 1,000Hz gaming monitors aren’t suitable for everyone (including myself), and not all graphics cards or computers can support them. Nevertheless, they represent the future direction of the industry: a nearly lag-free, lifelike gaming experience.
