If you’ve ever purchased video-recording equipment, you’re likely familiar with SmallRig, which provides a wide variety of accessories like camera cages, lights, tripods, phone holders, shoulder rigs, and action cameras. The brand is now venturing deeper into the audio realm, having made this announcement at CES 2026.

SmallRig already offers the Forevala U60 USB microphone and S20 camera microphone, and it has just introduced the new S70, unveiled during the Las Vegas tech conference.

The SmallRig S70 is crafted for capturing audio on location, specifically addressing common challenges faced when recording voices or instruments.

According to the company, the microphone was developed by examining real-world recording scenarios to identify potential problems. The S70 features nine recording presets that mimic the warmth of a studio setup and can adjust for various voices and musical instruments.

To achieve this, SmallRig collaborated with Grammy-winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi.

This partnership continues SmallRig's tradition of working closely with content creators to refine its products; previously, it released a Tracking POV kit in conjunction with YouTube creator Mikevisuals and an L-shaped Mount Plate Kit with LensVid.

Both initiatives originated from SmallRig’s DreamRig project, established in 2017, which focuses on creating customized camera accessories for professional users. This allows camera operators and social media content creators to design items that tackle specific challenges, enabling them to create the videos they envision.

Since its launch, DreamRig has produced over 2,700 unique accessories, many of which have eventually become available for purchase. This number keeps growing, as does the selection of products SmallRig offers for consumers.

In 2024, the brand collaborated with Gene Nagata from the YouTube channel Potato Jet to develop the TRIBEX tripod, which is designed for secure locking and smooth motion.

It also partnered with Brandon Li to design an all-in-one mobile video kit that combines a cage, control module, and SSD enclosure, making phone videography straightforward.

This collaborative approach helps keep SmallRig’s accessories competitive in the video-making space, as the brand actively listens to creators to resolve common challenges and releases products that meet their needs.

By allowing users to co-design the tools they desire but which are not yet available, SmallRig can provide innovations and solutions that fill existing gaps in the market.

Its expansion into the audio recording sector aims to enhance its offerings with essential recording tools that are user-centric.
