Intel laptops featuring enhanced integrated graphics and extended battery life are on the way.
Intel's Panther Lake CPUs are finally set to launch. Initially detailed last October, the new Core Ultra Series 3 chips were showcased at CES 2026, where the company announced pre-order and retail plans for the first laptops equipped with these processors.
In their announcement, Intel emphasized that the new Core Ultra Series 3 processors represent the company's first AI PC platform utilizing the Intel 18A process technology. The company claims that these chips will drive over 200 designs from global partners, making the Series 3 the most widely adopted AI PC platform that Intel has ever offered.
The Core Ultra Series 3 introduces a new line of X9 and X7 SKUs featuring high-performance integrated Intel Arc graphics. The top models will have up to 16 CPU cores, 12 Xe cores, and 50 NPU TOPS, providing up to 60% improved multithread performance and over 77% faster gaming performance when compared to Lunar Lake.
Battery life also receives a significant improvement, with Intel claiming up to 27.1 hours of Netflix streaming on a Lenovo IdeaPad reference design powered by the Core Ultra X9 388H. The Series 3 lineup will also feature Intel Core processors that share the same architecture as the Core Ultra models, allowing for more powerful and energy-efficient systems at lower prices.
Panther Lake laptops are expected to be available later this month.
Intel announced that pre-orders for the first consumer laptops utilizing the Core Ultra Series 3 processors will begin on January 6. These laptops will be available globally starting January 27.
Additional models with the new processors are anticipated to launch during the first half of the year. Information regarding pricing, regional availability, and configurations is expected to be released closer to the launch date as partners start to unveil their Panther Lake-powered laptops.

I found a tiny app that can prevent low-battery work accidents on MacBooks
Do you enjoy living on the edge? Consider this app your safety gear for risky situations.
I've lost track of how many times my laptop has died mid-work. At times, I’ve overlooked the low battery warning. Other moments, I’ve noticed the alert but forgot to plug in the charger. Recently, while working with only a 7% battery level nestled comfortably on a bean bag, I thought I could finish my current task before grabbing my power bank. I misjudged my work speed, and my MacBook Air shut down while I was in the middle of it. Fortunately, cloud sync saved my progress.
