Plaud Enhances AI Notetaking with NotePin S Wearable and Meeting App

Just prior to CES 2026 in Las Vegas, hardware startup Plaud has unveiled its latest productivity device: the Plaud NotePin S. In conjunction with this new wearable, the company is also rolling out a specialized desktop application aimed at connecting in-person discussions with virtual meetings, marking a significant step towards dominating the entire notetaking ecosystem for professionals and students alike.

The NotePin S is a more compact and refined iteration of the original pin-style recorder released by Plaud in 2024.

A major criticism of the first version was its "squeeze-to-record" feature, which was often tricky to operate. Plaud addressed this issue by incorporating a dedicated physical button. Now, a long press initiates recording, while a quick tap during conversation allows you to "highlight" important moments, alerting the AI that a specific part of the discussion is particularly noteworthy.

Priced at $179, the NotePin S is designed to be comfortably worn and easily forgotten. It’s remarkably lightweight and includes an assortment of accessories—a clip, lanyard, magnetic pin, and even a wristband—so you can find the most comfortable fit, no matter your attire. Additionally, it features Apple Find My support, which is invaluable for such a small device; if it falls off or is left in a conference room, you can track it similar to an AirTag.

The internal specifications are impressive, even if there isn’t a significant upgrade from the previous model. It offers 64GB of storage, sufficient for 20 hours of continuous recording, and approximately 40 days of standby battery life. The dual microphones are engineered to capture clear voices from about 10 feet away, ideal for one-on-one discussions or small group meetings. As with other Plaud devices, the NotePin S comes with 300 free minutes of AI transcription each month to get you started.

The hardware is just part of the story

Plaud is also introducing a new desktop application to directly compete with services like Granola and Otter. While the NotePin manages the real-world recordings, the app focuses on your virtual meetings on platforms such as Zoom, Slack, or Google Meet. It can automatically recognize when a call starts and begins transcribing system audio right away.

What is particularly notable is its “multimodal” approach that Plaud initiated on mobile—users can take screenshots or jot down quick notes during a meeting, and the AI will compile everything into a cohesive summary.

Overall, Plaud aims to evolve beyond being merely a “gadget company.” With over 1.5 million users already, they are positioning themselves as a comprehensive productivity suite. Whether you’re capturing a lecture in a large hall or a strategy session on a video call, they aspire to facilitate capturing and organizing that information for you.
