You will soon have the ability to get iPhone notifications on a Galaxy smartwatch.
But only if you reside in the EU.
Apple has just rolled out the initial beta version of iOS 26.3, which comes with various new features meant for compatible iPhones. The update introduces a new transfer tool aimed at simplifying the process of switching to an Android device, a Weather wallpaper section for customizing the lock screen, and, most significantly, the ability to view iPhone notifications on third-party wearables.
As reported by MacRumors, the iOS 26 beta version includes a “Notification Forwarding” option that, when activated, sends incoming iPhone notifications to wearables made by other brands. This allows iPhone users to see notifications on non-Apple smartwatches, though there are some restrictions.
Users can activate this feature in the Notifications section of the Settings app and choose a wearable to receive notifications. Additionally, they can select whether to get all notifications or just alerts from specific apps on the chosen wearable.
According to MacRumors, the feature's details indicate that only one wearable can receive forwarded notifications at any given time. It also states that when Notification Forwarding is activated, alerts will not show up on an Apple Watch linked to the same iPhone.
Even with these limitations, this feature represents a significant shift in Apple's approach to supporting notifications on third-party wearables. The update paves the way for improved accessory compatibility, enabling iPhone users to connect their devices to smartwatches from other manufacturers and receive notifications that include the app name and content details.
Currently, Notification Forwarding is confined to the EU.
Apple seems to be implementing this feature due to regulatory mandates in the EU, which require the company to allow third-party smartwatches and other devices to access notifications and functionalities previously exclusive to the Apple Watch. Consequently, Notification Forwarding is presently limited to European markets, despite the setting possibly appearing in other areas.
It remains to be seen whether Apple will broaden availability to other regions by the time iOS 26.3 is officially released. The update is anticipated to be available for all compatible iPhones next month.
