New RTX 5060 EVO cards unveil a more compact 2.1-slot design

ASUS has subtly introduced two new models to its GeForce RTX 5060 lineup, which initially appear almost identical to the existing cards but come with a range of hardware modifications. Without a formal announcement, ASUS has showcased the Dual GeForce RTX 5060 EVO and Dual GeForce RTX 5060 Ti EVO on its website. These models join the standard RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti, offering the same core performance while revamping the physical design and internal structure.

The most apparent change is their size. Both EVO models feature a slimmer 2.1-slot design instead of the 2.5-slot configuration of earlier models, making them ideal for more compact PC builds. ASUS has also redesigned the PCB to incorporate a shorter PCIe x8 edge connector in place of the standard x16 connector (via Vortez).

Hardware modifications that contribute to the slimmer design

Additionally, the placement of the power connector has changed. ASUS relocated the single 8-pin connector closer to the left side of the card, near the I/O bracket, which may complicate cable management based on your case setup. On the RTX 5060 Ti EVO, ASUS eliminated features present on the non-EVO model, such as the GPU Guard reinforcement and the Dual-BIOS switch.

Nonetheless, the card maintains its dual fan cooling system featuring Axial technology fans, a metal backplate with ventilation openings, and the same factory clock speeds. The overclocked RTX 5060 Ti EVO still boosts up to 2632 MHz, matching the standard Dual OC variant. Memory configurations remain unchanged, with the RTX 5060 Ti EVO available in a 16 GB version. ASUS has not revealed pricing or release dates, but the understated introduction suggests these EVO cards are meant as quiet alternatives rather than replacements. For builders who prioritize smaller cases and cleaner designs, ASUS's RTX 5060 EVO lineup provides the same GPU performance in a more compact format.

Future CES 2026 announcements may provide additional insight into the direction of Nvidia's RTX 50 Super GPU lineup.

The Mac dock has remained largely unchanged over the years. Loopty offers a replacement with a lot of practical enhancements.

The transition to macOS Tahoe has brought numerous upgrades to core Mac systems. Spotlight, in particular, has received several noteworthy tweaks, such as custom shortcut support and an enhanced AI-driven search system. However, the removal of LaunchPad was a controversial change. Apple has also overlooked deeper cross-app integrations, which have made apps like RayCast popular in the user community. While the new Spotlight aims to serve as the hub for your core Mac tasks, it is not without its clutter and significant omissions.

AMD plays it safe at CES 2026, but it may still capture your interest

AMD's CES 2026 keynote appears focused more on AI strategy than on introducing flashy new consumer chips.

For years, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has transformed from showcasing consumer electronics to becoming a primary launch platform for chipmakers, making the event a critical arena for competition in computing and AI hardware. The 2026 edition is anticipated to be no different.

AMD has confirmed that President and CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, will present the opening keynote on January 5, detailing the company's AI vision across cloud, enterprise, edge, and consumer devices. While we do not expect major announcements like a new GPU generation or unexpected Zen 6 hints (though one can hope), significant product launches are anticipated.
