Alexa, play “Don’t Stop The Party” by Pitbull for Fizz, the new food-delivery application from Instacart. This grocery-delivery service has introduced an app it aims to make essential for gatherings, particularly those led by Gen Z and Millennials aged 21 and above.

Instacart unveiled Fizz on Tuesday to facilitate collective ordering of beverages and snacks for events and social occasions. The process allows hosts to share a link to their Fizz cart in group chats, enabling guests to contribute to the party by selecting items like chips, dips, sodas, charcuterie meats, healthy snacks, alcoholic beverages, and non-alcoholic drinks. Once the cart is complete, users can opt for immediate delivery or schedule it for a later time with a flat delivery fee of $5, but must present an ID to the driver if the order contains alcohol.

Guests are not required to have the Fizz app installed on their phones to add items to the shared cart. Additionally, they don't have to select which store to source the food from, as the app automatically determines the best store nearby the event location. Purchasing drinks will earn users coupons called “snack bucks,” which offer discounts on future purchases.

As reported by TechCrunch, Instacart’s chief product officer Daniel Danker mentioned that the concept for Fizz emerged after observing differences in how various generations approach social gatherings. For instance, Baby Boomers and Generation X typically cover all food expenses, while Millennials and Gen Z tend to share costs and consider everyone's dietary preferences and restrictions.

Fizz is currently available for download in 30 states, including California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, and Washington, as well as certain areas in Louisiana, New Mexico, and Nevada. The timeline for its release in the remaining parts of the U.S. is still uncertain.
