      In a world-first demonstration, Samsung presented Horizon: Forbidden West in real-time at 8K and 120Hz—or did they? The game was displayed running on a Samsung TV via HDMI with a remarkably smooth framerate, which is quite impressive on its own. However, there are several factors that could make replicating this achievement at home challenging (not to mention the high expense; an 8K-capable gaming PC can be quite costly).

      Firstly, it’s reported that the Samsung TV used was modified, but details on how are unclear. HDMI 2.1 cannot support the bandwidth needed for such video resolutions, while HDMI 2.2 is expected to offer significantly greater capacity. To overcome this limitation, Samsung employed a technology known as Display Stream Compression (DSC), but this feature is already available on their TVs.

      GOG brings back a classic RPG over two decades after its initial release

      More than twenty years after its first launch, cult-classic JRPG Breath of Fire IV has made a comeback on PCs as part of the GOG Preservation Program. Originally released for PC in 2000 (2003 in Europe and Japan), time has not been particularly kind to what many viewed as a somewhat subpar port initially.

      Breath of Fire IV was designed for 240p displays, and even utilizing advanced upscaling techniques does not yield the desired results; early players note that even GOG's updated version requires some tweaking to eliminate blurriness. Nevertheless, the new release includes numerous bug fixes and adjustments that enhance its playability on modern systems (including DRM removal).
