5 Features the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Should Include from the Razr Ultra 2025
The realm of clamshell folding phones has officially reached Ultra status with Motorola's introduction of the first genuine flagship clamshell phone, the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025.
As the inaugural flip phone to bear the Ultra designation, the Razr Ultra 2025 presents a range of notable enhancements compared to other flip devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip 6. It is currently the most expensive flip phone available, yet it brings considerable advancements that Samsung should consider implementing in the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Here are five features of the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 that Samsung should integrate into its next flip phone.
Larger battery and quicker charging

A standout feature of the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 is its expanded battery capacity and faster charging speed. It showcases the largest battery and quickest charging capabilities seen in a flip phone to date, especially when measured against the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
With a 4,700 mAh battery, it significantly surpasses the 4,000 mAh battery of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Coupled with 68W charging, this allows for a full day's battery life in just eight minutes, a notable enhancement over the 25W charging of the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Battery life and charging remain major obstacles for clamshell designs, but the Razr Ultra 2025 demonstrates that there need not be any trade-offs, provided the phone is slightly thicker and heavier.
Vibrant finishes and materials

Samsung has predominantly chosen subdued colors for its flip phones, sticking close to standard color options. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is available in Yellow, Black, White, and Mint, with more colors—Silver, Blue, and Peach—accessible exclusively through Samsung’s website.
While these colors are appealing, they do not match the striking and distinctive colors and finishes offered by the Razr Ultra 2025. Motorola's flagship includes four Pantone color-matched options, with the Scarab model featuring Alcantara leather for smartphones for the first time.
Two vegan leather options resonate with earlier Razr models, continuing the legacy with choices like Rio Red and Cabaret (vivid pink). The most intriguing new color is the Mountain Trail model, which reintroduces FSC-certified wood to Motorola phones after a decade.
Larger displays

Leading phones often challenge design norms by maximizing screen area while minimizing the overall screen-to-body ratio.
The Razr Ultra 2025 accomplishes this by enlarging the main display to 7 inches, making it the largest of any clamshell phone and one of the biggest displays on any device. When folded, it features a 4-inch Cover Display, maximizing the potential of the front screen.
In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has a smaller 6.7-inch main display and a 3.4-inch Cover Display. Although functional, Samsung should increase the Cover Display size to cover more of the phone’s front, abandoning the current folder-like design.
Enhanced Cover Display software and AI

Beyond a larger Cover Display, Samsung also needs to markedly enhance the Cover Display experience. The front display on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 offers a limited selection of panels, resembling a sophisticated smartwatch more than a compact smartphone.
While the Good Lock modules allow users to install any app, this feature requires manual activation and might not be well-known to all users. Although Samsung has impressive panels, the overall Cover Display experience could be significantly improved.
The Razr Ultra 2025 continues Motorola's approach of allowing the Cover Display to function like a mini smartphone. Users can add any app to one of three app panels and any widget to the three widget panels. It even supports various games on the Cover Display, offers a complete keyboard, and allows the inclusion of shortcuts for favorite contacts or features within apps via the Communications Panel.
Motorola also introduces an enhanced AI suite, Moto AI, designed to blend productivity with creativity in innovative ways while providing options for different AI platforms. The Razr Ultra 2025 defaults to Google Gemini, while also supporting Perplexity and Microsoft CoPilot on Android.
These features are further complemented by Moto AI functionalities like Catch Me Up for recent personal notifications, Pay Attention for initiating voice recordings with transcription, and Remember This for easy screenshot recollection. The Next Move feature identifies on-screen content and suggests actions, including creating music playlists or saving information for later.
The Cover Display has improved significantly, and Samsung ought to learn from the Razr Ultra 2025.
Superior cameras

The camera system on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 bears similarities to its predecessors, but now is the time for Samsung to enhance them as part of updating the lineup. Its 50MP main camera, which has an f/1.8 aperture,
