The upcoming iPhone 17 Air could feature significantly more memory than existing models, enhancing both its longevity and performance.

Currently, the iPhone 16 models across the board are equipped with 8GB of RAM, but the iPhone 17 Air is expected to have a considerable 12GB of RAM.

This increase means that the devices will not only operate more quickly, with greater memory capacity for gaming and multitasking, but they will also maintain this performance for a longer period in the future.

Additionally, this boost in memory may help Apple introduce its advanced Apple Intelligence features, which can be managed by these more powerful models.

This speculation originates from supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who also mentions that the new 12GB RAM could be available on the iPhone 17. He notes that the final decision is contingent on potential supply chain shortages that may affect Apple’s offerings.

Kuo indicates that Apple is currently assessing these supply chain challenges and is expected to reach a conclusion by May.

At present, the minimum memory requirement to support Apple Intelligence is 8GB of RAM, which is why only iPhone 15 Pro models and newer support this technology.

Why will the iPhone 17 be durable?

Kuo further suggests that this new RAM specification is likely to become standard for Apple’s future models, with the upcoming iPhone 18 also expected to feature 12GB as standard.

This development may herald an era where AI is increasingly integrated, necessitating additional memory to fully leverage its capabilities. Consequently, older, less capable models could become outdated—if not entirely obsolete—sooner than in past upgrade cycles.

Will the iPhone 17 be more expensive?

The increase in memory may lead to a price increase. The additional RAM signifies a higher cost at the retail level, ultimately benefiting suppliers.

While consumers will likely pay the typical Apple iPhone price, it may allow suppliers to invest in advancements for future upgrades, at least in theory.

I compared the cameras of the Pixel 9a and iPhone 16e, and they nearly tied.

The primary competitor of the Google Pixel 9a is the Apple iPhone 16e. Much like the way dogs chase cats, a new Pixel phone will face off against an iPhone in camera tests, and recently, we evaluated which phone captures better photos: the Pixel 9a or the iPhone 16e.

      Camera specifications

The two devices have distinct camera systems. The Google Pixel 9a boasts a 48-megapixel main camera with an f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS), in addition to a 13MP wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. It also features a 13MP selfie camera on the front.

Motorola Razr 60 Ultra may entice me to leave Apple.

Since 2015, I have exclusively used an iPhone as my daily device, and have relied on my MacBook for productivity in that time. That’s a decade immersed in the Apple ecosystem. While I wouldn’t label myself a fanboy, I value the convenience it offers. However, after reviewing the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max and its relatively modest upgrades compared to my iPhone 12, my interest has shifted to the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra.

While its specifications are not yet confirmed, the leak we encountered today comes from OnLeaks— a source known for its accuracy. Foldable phones have become commonplace (and Apple is reportedly developing one as well), but price remains a significant barrier for many. The Razr 60 Ultra is anticipated to launch at $1,000—less than my current phone’s cost—and could outperform even the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

New iPhone 17 Pro render keeps us guessing about the final design.

Apple is slated to announce the iPhone 17 series later this year, likely in September, following previous release trends. This suggests we are approximately five months away, although our math skills may be lacking—as we are writers, after all.

What we do know is that in the forthcoming months, we will likely encounter more conflicting rumors regarding the design expectations for the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models. Previously, it was indicated that the iPhone 17 Pro models might adopt a new camera bar on the rear, giving them a more Pixel-like appearance.
