Earlier this year, Sarah Michelle Gellar joined the cast for Hulu’s revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now, Gellar is returning to her horror roots with Ready or Not 2, the sequel to the cult film from 2019. The sequel will also be released under a new title.

According to Variety, the follow-up will now be known as Ready or Not: Here I Come. Samara Weaving, who starred in the original, is coming back to lead the sequel. In the first film, Weaving’s character Grace marries into the affluent Le Domas family through her husband, Alex (Mark O’Brien). Due to a pact the Le Domas family made with a devil years prior, Grace must endure a deadly game of Hide and Seek to survive. Although the first film concluded fairly definitively, it remains uncertain how the sequel will continue the narrative.

Elijah Wood, known for his role in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, is also joining the cast along with Kathryn Newton, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and David Cronenberg. The directing duo known as Radio Silence, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, are returning to helm the sequel alongside the original screenwriters, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.

“We’re excited to return to the world of Ready or Not with Samara, Brett, Avery, and Andrew and are thrilled to collaborate with this incredibly talented cast and the amazing artists from each department joining the Ready or Not family,” stated Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett.

Matthew Greenfield, president of Searchlight Pictures, also expressed his enthusiasm regarding the sequel.

“We’re incredibly excited to work with the remarkable Radio Silence again. With Ready or Not: Here I Come, we’ll embark on another adventure with the fantastic Samara Weaving, incorporate some incredible new voices, and provide audiences with a fresh perspective that’s just as twisted and enjoyable as the first. This is for those who have been anticipating it, as well as those who didn’t see it coming.”

Searchlight Pictures has not yet announced a release date for Ready or Not: Here I Come, but filming is set to begin next week in Toronto.

Tim Allen has unveiled the first details regarding the plot of Toy Story 5, indicating that it focuses significantly on Jessie. More than three decades after the original Toy Story premiered and altered the animation landscape, Toy Story 5 is set to release in June 2026; however, plot details have been scarce until recently.

In a recent interview with WIVB, Tim Allen provided some of the initial insights we’ve received about the fifth installment, which he has clarified is more than just a cash grab. “I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie," Allen stated about the film. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyear. I can share that, but I can’t disclose much more.”

Delroy Lindo mentioned that Marvel’s Blade film ‘went off the rails’ as he continues to promote Sinners. In a recent discussion with Entertainment Weekly, Lindo reflected on his involvement in Marvel's endeavor to revive Blade. He was slated to star alongside Mahershala Ali, who was to play the titular role, but exited the film before it progressed.

"When Marvel approached me, they seemed genuinely interested in my perspective," Lindo noted. "During my discussions with the producers, the writer, and the director at the time, it was all leading towards a very inclusive concept. It was conceptually exciting, as well as regarding the character that was being developed."

Steven Soderbergh expressed that the underperformance of mid-budget films at the box office is ‘not a good thing for movies.’ After his film Black Bag failed to perform at the domestic box office despite garnering favorable reviews, Soderbergh reflected on the public’s reaction. Speaking to The Independent, he remarked that the lukewarm reception for his film is a troubling sign for Hollywood overall.

“This is the type of film that established my career,” he commented. “If a mid-level budget, star-driven movie can't seem to attract audiences over the age of 25 to theaters — if that segment is truly a dead zone — then that’s detrimental for the film industry. What will happen to the next filmmaker who wants to create this type of film?”
