NYT Connections: clues and solutions for Tuesday, April 15.
Connections is among the top puzzle games offered by the New York Times. In this game, players are challenged to classify a set of 16 words into four undisclosed groups by determining their relationships. The puzzle resets each night at midnight, featuring varying levels of difficulty with each new puzzle. Similar to Wordle, players can track their winning streaks and compare scores with friends.
Some puzzles can be more challenging than others, much like other popular NYT Games such as The Mini and Strands. If you're finding today's puzzle difficult, you can refer to our guide on tips and strategies for Connections, or check out hints for the current puzzle below. If you're still stuck, we will provide today’s answers at the end.
**How to Play Connections**

You can access Connections via the New York Times website or through the NYT Games app available on iOS and Android.
In Connections, you will see a grid of 16 words. Your goal is to categorize these words into four sets of four by recognizing their connections. These sets might include themes such as titles of video game franchises, sequels in book series, different shades of red, names of restaurant chains, and so forth.
Some words may appear to fit multiple themes, but there is only one definitive answer. You are allowed to shuffle the grid and reposition the words to better identify possible connections.
Each group is color-coded: the yellow group is the simplest, followed by green, blue, and purple groups.
After selecting four words, press Submit. If your choice is correct, those words will be removed from the grid, and the connecting theme will be revealed. An incorrect guess counts as a mistake. You are limited to a total of four mistakes before the game concludes.

**Who is in charge of editing the NYT Connections game?**
Wyna Liu, who has been editing puzzles at The New York Times since 2020, is responsible for the daily editing of Connections. Liu explained her journey in a June 2024 article: “A few months ago, a new assignment came to my desk: to create the game boards for Connections, a category matching game that had recently been approved and was looking for an editor. Most of my puzzle experience has involved crosswords, so I was eager to try something new. I've enjoyed understanding how puzzle editing develops once a game is approved and seeing how our team fits into a larger framework.”
On the one-year anniversary of Connections’ launch earlier this year, Liu shared a TikTok highlighting her favorite puzzles so far:
