      Following the release of the OnePlus 13 in January, the next smartphone from the popular Oppo offshoot will be the OnePlus 13T. Its official launch is scheduled for April 24, so the wait is almost over.

      However, there's a slight complication: the launch event will take place in China, and there has been no confirmation regarding its availability outside China, including in the US. But this might not be the final outcome. The OnePlus 13 had its global introduction in January 2025, even though it was announced in China earlier in October 2024, suggesting that this compact flagship could also be released in other markets.

      Several leaks have surfaced regarding this phone, confirming its design and indicating that the alert slider will be replaced with a shortcut button, among other specifications. We now have the official release date for the OnePlus 13T in China, with most of its specs already disclosed.

      The OnePlus 13T is anticipated to feature a 6.3-inch 1.5K OLED display with a flat design, framed with square edges and rounded corners, similar to the iPhone 16. The rear camera module indicates a significant design change from the OnePlus 13, distinguishing it as more than just a smaller version of its predecessor.

      The dual cameras are expected to utilize 50-megapixel sensors, with the primary camera equipped with a Sony LYT700 sensor and the telephoto lens featuring a Samsung JN5 sensor that provides 2x optical zoom. There will also be a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

      What distinguishes this phone from other compact devices is its flagship-level hardware. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite and packed with a 6100mAh battery. This will support 80W charging.

      The standout feature here is the large battery: for instance, the Samsung Galaxy S25 has a 4000mAh battery paired with a 6.2-inch screen, while another notable compact option, the Sony Xperia 5 V, comes with a 5000mAh battery.

      Moreover, the OnePlus 13T is set to introduce a new shortcut key on its side, replacing the alert slider that has been a staple since the OnePlus One was launched in 2014. This new key may serve as OnePlus’ response to Apple’s Action Button, providing various functionalities.

      In recent years, the smartphone market has been flooded with larger devices, making smaller phones increasingly rare. However, OnePlus’ revival of a more compact model alongside the reintroduction of the T designation could signal a potential shift back toward smaller phones.
