Based on J.K. Rowling's book series, Harry Potter is set to be a faithful adaptation of the novels. The series follows Harry Potter, a young boy who discovers he is a wizard on his 11th birthday. He enrolls in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he will hone his magical skills and meet his future best friends: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. HBO has not yet announced the actors who will portray Harry, Ron, or Hermione.
Each of Rowling’s seven books will be adapted for television, though it is unclear how many seasons will be dedicated to each one. The series is expected to run for at least ten consecutive years.
Filming is anticipated to start this summer in England, with the first season of Harry Potter likely premiering in late 2026 or early 2027. The series will be available exclusively on Max.
