NYT Strands for today: clues, spangram, and solutions for Sunday, April 13.

Strands is a new daily puzzle from the New York Times. It offers a more challenging version of the traditional word search, requiring a sharp eye to complete it. Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can sometimes be tricky. There's no need to feel embarrassed if you need a little assistance occasionally. If you're facing difficulty and want to discover the answers to today’s Strands puzzle, refer to the solved puzzle provided below.

      How to play Strands:

In every Strands puzzle, your objective is to uncover the “theme words” concealed within the letter grid. You can manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the final letter to confirm. When you find a correct word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and will become unselectable.

Even if you find a word that isn’t a theme word, it can still be beneficial! For every three non-theme words you identify that are at least four letters long, you will earn a hint — one of the letters of a theme word will be revealed, which you will need to unscramble.

Every letter in the grid contributes to spelling out the theme words with no repetition. Each letter is used only once.

Each puzzle includes one “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that relates to the puzzle's theme and connects two opposite sides of the board. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.

The aim is to complete the puzzle swiftly without relying heavily on hints.

      Hint for today’s Strands puzzle:

The theme today is “Orange door hinge.”

      Here’s a helpful hint: sound-alike.

I need these 10 GameCube games on the Nintendo Switch 2 as soon as possible:

There are many exciting features on the horizon for Nintendo Switch 2, but what excites me the most? The inclusion of Nintendo GameCube games on Switch Online. I know it may be due to nostalgia, but it’s true. The Nintendo GameCube was my first real childhood console, and I have numerous fond memories associated with it. I can’t wait to dive back into games like F-Zero GX and Soulcalibur 2, two significant titles from my childhood, at the earliest opportunity.

My affection for the GameCube isn’t only linked to nostalgic memories. Even now, I still contend that the GameCube boasts possibly the finest exclusive video game library of any console. While it may not have an extensive catalog, it showcased some of Nintendo’s most daring experiments as well as quirky third-party exclusives that have seldom been ported to other systems since. With the Switch Online upgrade, there’s now a fantastic opportunity for Nintendo to resurrect some of those classic titles, just as it’s already doing with games like Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Here are eight games I hope to see included in the service’s first year (assuming that recently remastered games such as Metroid Prime are excluded from consideration).

This is the only Blue Prince starting tip you need:

The best game of 2025 is available today — and it’s not Grand Theft Auto 6.

Blue Prince has received the best reviews of the year so far, surpassing Split Fiction and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. You’ll understand why as soon as you start playing. The puzzle game is one of the most original video games I’ve ever experienced, combining the mysterious atmosphere of Riven with a cerebral roguelike set in a constantly changing manor. It includes challenging puzzles that could take years to solve without a guide, which is a positive aspect. While you may be tempted to look up solutions immediately, Blue Prince is more enjoyable when you know less about it.

Rematch is a FIFA rival from the creators behind Sifu:

Sloclap, the developers of the well-known kung-fu simulation Sifu, are set to launch a brand-new soccer game titled Rematch. The game will be available on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5 on June 19 for $30, with preorders currently available for those eager to get started. Move over, FIFA; there’s a new contender in town.

If you can’t wait that long, there will be an open beta in just over a week, which you can join at www.playrematch.com. The beta runs on April 18
