We are currently in a time when the selection of shows and movies at our disposal is unprecedented. However, despite this vast array of options, finding something truly worth your time can be overwhelming. To assist with that, we’ve compiled a list of three movies available on Amazon Prime Video that will be worth your time.
Whether you’re in the mood for something serious and thought-provoking or looking for a good laugh, this list offers a variety of options for you.
If you need more suggestions, we also have guides featuring the best new films to stream, the top movies on Netflix, the best films on Hulu, the most recommended movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best selections on Max, and the top movies on Disney+.
The Thin Red Line (1998)
Terrence Malick is a unique director, making it particularly challenging to describe his films. The Thin Red Line takes place in the Pacific theater during World War II and focuses on a group of soldiers as they prepare for the Battle of Guadalcanal.
With a cast of talented young actors, the film ultimately serves as a reflection on life, death, and war, showcasing the digressions and tangents that characterize Malick’s work. Additionally, it features an exceptional score by Hans Zimmer and cameo appearances by actors such as George Clooney, whose footage was nearly entirely cut from the final cut.
You can stream The Thin Red Line on Amazon Prime Video.
Bowfinger (1999)
Undoubtedly, this is one of the funniest films ever created. Bowfinger is a showbiz tale about an aspiring filmmaker who decides to finally create the movie of his dreams. To bring his vision to life, he partners with one of Hollywood's biggest stars, filming an entire movie around him without his knowledge.
Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy form a flawless comedic duo in this film, which is packed with jokes that will keep you laughing long after the credits roll. It contains a bit of heart, too, but ultimately, Bowfinger showcases two comedic legends at their peak, which is what makes it so memorable.
You can watch Bowfinger on Amazon Prime Video.
The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)
Martin Scorsese’s depiction of Jesus Christ’s life sparked controversy upon its release and continues to be viewed by some as sacrilege even today. The film chronicles Jesus’s journey as he becomes a savior, grappling with doubt and questioning whether he truly is what he claims to be.
The movie’s final sequence, where Jesus envisions a normal life for himself, was contentious but is also what lends the film its power. Willem Dafoe shines in the lead role, and Last Temptation remains one of Scorsese’s most intriguing and thought-provoking films, even now.
You can view The Last Temptation of Christ on Amazon Prime Video.
