The New York Times has rolled out the next game to add to its Games catalog following the ongoing success of Wordle, and this one is focused on math. Digits requires players to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. You can currently play its beta version online for free.

      In Digits, players receive a target number they must match using six provided numbers. They can add, subtract, multiply, or divide these numbers to get as close to the target number as possible. It’s worth noting that not every number has to be used, so the game is designed to challenge your math skills as you combine numbers and formulate equations to hit the target.

      Players earn a five-star rating for matching the target number exactly, three stars for being within 10 of it, and one star if they get within 25. Additionally, players can access five different puzzles, each featuring progressively larger numbers. After trying today’s puzzle, I found it to be an enjoyable number-based game that should resonate with puzzle fans who enjoy titles like Threes or other offerings from The New York Times like Wordle and Spelling Bee.

      In an article discussing Digits and outlining the development process from The New York Times Games team, it was mentioned that the team will use this free beta for bug fixes and to decide if it’s worthwhile to advance to a more active development phase for final coding and design.
