The rollout of Samsung One UI 7 has officially begun – does your phone make the list?
Samsung has finally begun the rollout of Android 15 and One UI 7 for its current devices, following the introduction of the Galaxy S25 series, which showcased the software earlier this year.
The company has received significant criticism regarding the pace of this update, especially since Android 15 was officially released on Pixel devices on October 15, 2024. It has been nearly six months since the initial devices received the new software, and we are likely only two months away from the launch of Android 16.
Due to timeline adjustments by Google and Samsung's delays, Android 15 may not remain on your phone for long before attention shifts to Android 16.
Samsung had earlier announced that One UI 7 would begin rolling out on April 7, but since it is a phased release, it won’t be available simultaneously in every region. Additionally, the rollout will vary by device, meaning some phones and tablets will not receive it on the first day—some may have to wait several more weeks.
These are the first devices scheduled for the One UI 7 update:
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy S24 Plus
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
Although the rollout kicks off today, Samsung notes that it will differ by region: Singapore is confirmed to start on April 14, while the Czech Republic will begin on April 10.
Once these devices are updated, you can expect a wait of just a week for the next set of updates, which are anticipated to include the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S10 series, and Galaxy Tab 9 series.
While Samsung has not provided a complete list of dates and models for the update, it is expected to extend back to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 3, Galaxy A23, Galaxy Tab S8, and possibly some Galaxy M and Galaxy F models as well.
It is important to note that while the core Android 15 is included, some devices may experience a slightly different One UI 7 interface, as not all devices will support every AI feature.
What are the key features of One UI 7?
One UI 7 incorporates several design enhancements that improve the overall appearance of the phone's interface, along with the introduction of the Now Bar, a lock screen widget that provides access to certain app controls while they are active. This design change is particularly noteworthy as it revitalizes the device's overall look.
There’s also the Now Brief feature, which while not particularly exciting, offers a summary of your day at various intervals, mainly highlighting what’s in your calendar and tracking your step count.
Additionally, a variety of AI capabilities are included, such as an AI Select function, Writing Assist, Drawing Assist, and Audio Eraser, alongside deeper integration for Google’s Gemini throughout the device—especially in settings searches.
If you're unsure whether your device has received the update, check your settings under “software update,” especially if you haven’t received a notification yet.
