Samsung has just begun rolling out One UI 7 based on Android 15, with the Galaxy S25 models being the first to receive it. However, due to Google's revised schedule for the Android 16 release, One UI 7 might have a brief existence on your device before it is succeeded by One UI 8.
The catalyst for this situation is Google's decision to advance the timeline for the next Android version launch. The expectation is that Android 16 will be available around June 2025. For Samsung to stay relevant, it must act quickly to deliver the subsequent update.
This always posed a challenge, which has been worsened by Samsung's comparatively slow transition to One UI 7, complicating matters further.
The upcoming significant launches from Samsung are the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. While the Galaxy S25 Edge will debut with One UI 7 in between, it's crucial for Samsung that its new folding devices, expected to arrive in August 2025, are equipped with the latest software.
Sources speaking to SamMobile indicate that the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will launch with Android 16 and One UI 8.
If this information is accurate, it would bring Samsung back in line with the timeline, but it would also necessitate prompt updates for the Galaxy S25 and other devices to One UI 8 to avoid additional delays.
Previously, Samsung did not need to launch its folding phones with a new Android version since Google had not released it at that time. Instead, they introduced a modified version of One UI that included new features. For instance, the Z Flip 6 was released with One UI 6.1.1 before other Samsung models.
The Z Fold 7 is anticipated to feature slightly larger displays, and a Z Flip 7 FE might also be introduced to offer a more affordable folding phone option.
There is still some time until these devices launch, and we can expect numerous leaks to surface beforehand. The primary question remains whether they will indeed debut with Android 16.

One UI 7 beta is set to arrive on an affordable Samsung phone soon
Samsung's One UI 7, currently limited to devices launched in 2025, is expected to reach additional devices shortly. The Android 15-based update will begin to roll out to older models in April, starting with the Galaxy S24 series on April 10. While the initial group of phones and tablets eligible for the One UI 7 update consists of flagship models, more budget-friendly devices should follow closely behind.
As Samsung focuses on ensuring the stable rollout of One UI 7 for its flagship Galaxy S, Z Fold, Z Flip, and Tab S series, it is also likely to start testing the update on a non-flagship device from the previous year. Recent updates have revealed dedicated pages in the One UI 7 beta forums for the Galaxy A55, suggesting that it may be the first model to receive the expanded release.
iPhone 17 Pro could be the first to support 8K video recording
The iPhone 17 series is projected to launch in approximately six months. With this in mind, more details about the upcoming devices are emerging. Recent reports from Fixed Focus Digital (via MacRumors) indicate that the iPhone 17 Pro series may support 8K video recording. This aligns with earlier rumors that the iPhone 17 Pro series will be equipped with three 48-megapixel rear cameras: a Fusion, Telephoto, and Ultra Wide lens. 33 megapixels are required to create an 8K image.
