It's confirmed, Ted Lasso will be back for a fourth season.
Apple TV+
When the final season of Ted Lasso concluded in May 2023, the protagonist had departed from his cherished AFC Richmond team in England and returned to the U.S. to be with his son, Henry. It seemed like a fitting conclusion for a series finale, which many had presumed it to be. Nearly two years later, Jason Sudeikis, the series star, announced that Ted Lasso would be making a comeback on Apple TV+ for a fourth season.
In an interview on the New Heights podcast (via The Radio Times), Sudeikis revealed that the fourth season will feature his character coaching a women’s team. It remains to be determined whether this will be a soccer team in the U.S. or a football team in Europe. Even Sudeikis himself is uncertain about the storylines for the upcoming season or their settings.
At the conclusion of season three, Sudeikis’ character was firmly based in the U.S., whereas the other characters remained in the U.K., including Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple). Even Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), who is American, stayed across the pond during the series' last broadcast.
When Ted Lasso wrapped up, many believed the series was finished for good, though some speculated about the possibility of a spin-off. Eventually, rumors began circulating that the show would make a return, likely featuring its original cast, leading us to the present situation.
Ted Lasso debuted in August 2020, and over the course of three years, it accrued multiple Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series in its first two years and two Outstanding Lead Actor awards for Jason Sudeikis. Both Brett Goldstein and Hannah Waddingham have also claimed Emmys, with Goldstein winning twice.
With Sudeikis confirmed for the fourth season of Ted Lasso, it probably won’t be long before additional cast members for the upcoming season are announced. The timeline for when the new episodes will be filmed and aired is still unknown.

Kaley Cuoco reignites her true crime obsession in the season 2 trailer for Based on a True Story.
The trailer for Based on a True Story season 2 reveals that a new killer is on the prowl. In the season 1 finale, Ava (Kaley Cuoco) and Nathan Bartlett (Chris Messina) were in the process of cleaning up after a murder, while Tory (Liana Liberato) was getting involved with Matt (Tom Bateman), a serial killer. Ava and Nathan confronted Matt, known as the Westside Ripper, and agreed to maintain his secret in exchange for him ceasing his killings and sharing his story anonymously on their true crime podcast.
Ted Lasso season 4? Jason Sudeikis is finally feeling positive about the show's return.
If Coach Ted Lasso is set to make a comeback, the decision lies with Jason Sudeikis. During a recent discussion at MIPCOM's C-Suite Conversations in Cannes, Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. TV Group, shared an exciting update regarding Ted Lasso season 4. Though it's not officially confirmed, the potential for a fourth season of the Apple TV+ hit series is progressing. Ultimately, it hinges on Sudeikis, who appears to be warming up to the idea.
“We are in discussions about season four, and they are very exciting, but it’s still early days,” Dungey stated to The Hollywood Reporter. "We had always made it clear that there wouldn’t be more Ted Lasso unless Jason [Sudeikis] and the team felt enthusiastic about it, and I can assure you that he is in a good place and feeling really excited about it.”
In August, Deadline reported that Ted Lasso season 4 was close to being greenlit. Warner Bros. Television has secured options for three original cast members: Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins).
With agreements in place for this trio, the studio is expected to negotiate new contracts with other cast members and producers, including Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).
Created by Sudeikis, Hunt, Bill Lawrence, and Joe Kelly, Ted Lasso was originally intended to run for three seasons. However, as Sudeikis holds the key to a potential season 4, if the Emmy-winner desires more from the show, it will return.
Debuting in August 2020, Ted Lasso stars Sudeikis as the title character, a former college football coach who is recruited to lead AFC Richmond, a struggling soccer team in the English Premier League. The series achieved tremendous success
