Spider-Man 4 has cast Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, alongside Tom Holland in the upcoming MCU film.

Spider-Man 4 is drawing some star talent from Hawkins, Indiana, as Sadie Sink, known for her role in Stranger Things, has been cast in the film. According to Deadline, Sink will join the cast featuring Tom Holland, who reprises his role as Peter Parker. Her character is anticipated to be "significant," but details are not yet confirmed. Speculations suggest that Sink might be linked to the X-Men; reports from Jeff Sneider in December indicated she is being considered for the role of Jean Grey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Additionally, due to Sink’s red hair, she could also portray a version of Mary Jane Watson. However, none of these casting rumors have been verified.
Sink is widely recognized for her role as Max Mayfield on Netflix's Stranger Things. She has recently completed filming the fifth and final season, set to premiere later this year. Sink will also appear in O’Dessa, a post-apocalyptic musical on Hulu, available for streaming on March 20. The inclusion of the X-Men in the MCU seems imminent, as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the start of the "Mutant Era," spurred by Deadpool & Wolverine. Grey's significance in the X-Men storyline could warrant her introduction alongside Spider-Man.
Regarding other cast members, Zendaya is likely to come back as Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson, although she has yet to finalize a contract. It remains unclear if actors from the Holland-directed trilogy, like Jacob Batalon as Ned, will reprise their roles in Spider-Man 4.
Holland's fourth standalone Spider-Man film is a continuation of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. At the conclusion of No Way Home, Peter had Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) cast a spell to erase himself from everyone's memories to safeguard the universe. Though the world no longer remembers Peter Parker, Spider-Man continues, as shown in the final scene featuring a new suit.
Destin Daniel Cretton will direct Spider-Man 4, with Amy Pascal from Sony and Feige as producers. Filming for Spider-Man 4 is expected to commence after Holland completes his work on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.

Andrew Garfield settles the discussion: His favorite Spider-Man is …
When asked about his favorite actor who portrayed Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield acknowledged that he prefers the actor who played Peter Parker before him. “Tobey [Maguire] was my guy," Garfield stated during an appearance on the Vanity Fair Game Show. "I was in drama school, and I watched his films when I was a young, impressionable actor, and I practiced being him.”
Andrew Garfield clarifies the prospect of a Spider-Man return: ‘I would 100% come back’
Garfield’s Spidey senses are definitely tingling. In an Esquire interview, he expressed his admiration for Peter Parker and affirmed that he would return to the role of Spider-Man under the right circumstances. “I would 100% come back if it was the right thing [and] if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting, and that you can sink your teeth into,” Garfield mentioned. “I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”
Garfield first took on the role of Peter in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, receiving praise for his performance, which led to a sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in 2014. However, following a disappointing box office performance and negative reviews for the sequel, plans for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 were abandoned. In 2015, an agreement between Marvel Studios and Sony allowed Spider-Man to join the MCU, consequently concluding The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, which led to Tom Holland becoming Marvel Studios' Spider-Man.
In 2021, Garfield was given an opportunity for redemption when he portrayed his version of Peter in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He was part of a trio of Spider-Men, alongside Holland and Tobey Maguire. After his underwhelming ending with Sony's Spider-Man, Garfield referred to his appearance in No Way Home as "healing."
What lies ahead for Spider-Man? Currently, there are no plans for Garfield to star in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. However, Spider-Man 4 featuring Holland is in the works. Last month, discussions were held for Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) to direct Spider-Man 4, which is slated to begin filming in early 2025, with Holland and Zendaya in talks with the producers about returning.
