If you love Wordle and Connections, Puzzmo might become your next daily obsession
If you’ve recently incorporated games like Wordle and Connections into your daily routine, you may soon be experiencing another daily obsession. Puzzmo is a new platform that brings the concept of a newspaper puzzle page to a responsive website that functions across multiple devices. Players can sign up for the free platform today, which also offers a $40 annual subscription that unlocks bonus features like experimental games and leaderboards.
This ambitious new endeavor is a collaboration between Orta Therox and Zach Gage, a game designer known for mobile hits such as Knotwords and Good Sudoku. His latest initiative, which has been in development for years, serves as a comprehensive hub for Gage’s puzzle collection that seeks to outshine popular sites like The New York Times.
Move over, Wordle: The New York Times has launched a new puzzle game
The New York Times has rolled out the next addition to its Games catalog following the success of Wordle—this one focuses on math. Digits challenges players to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with numbers. You can currently play its beta version online for free.
In Digits, players are tasked with matching a specific target number. They are provided with six numbers and must combine them through various mathematical operations to get as close to the target as possible. Not all numbers need to be used, making this game a trial of your math skills as you strive to formulate the right equations.
Players will receive a five-star rating for matching the target number exactly, three stars for being within 10 of the target, and one star for being within 25 of the target. Additionally, players can access five different puzzles featuring increasingly larger numbers. I tackled today’s puzzle and found it to be an engaging math-based game that should attract curious minds who enjoy puzzle games like Threes and other titles from The New York Times such as Wordle and Spelling Bee.
In an article unveiling Digits and explaining the development process of The New York Times Games team, The Times noted that the team intends to use this free beta phase to address bugs and determine if it should transition into more active development "where the game is programmed and the designs are finalized." So, enjoy Digits while it’s available, as The New York Times may discontinue it if the feedback isn’t favorable.
Digits' beta is currently available to play for free on The New York Times Games' website.
