Google Gemini is set to take on a more significant role in your workplace.

      AI is set to make its way into workplace communication. Google has announced the integration of new Gemini features into Google Workspace. The company revealed in a blog post that these advanced features will be incorporated into Google Meet and Google Chat starting today. The AI initiative aims to enhance virtual meetings within Google Workspace.

      In Google Meet, Gemini will assist in “creating unique and custom meeting backgrounds” to hide your actual surroundings, which is particularly beneficial for those working from home. Additionally, the AI will introduce three machine-learning based Studio settings to improve your appearance during meetings: Studio look, which minimizes noise and boosts sharpness; Studio lighting, which replicates professional lighting by adjusting brightness and focus; and Studio sound, which restores and balances any missing or distorted audio frequencies.

      You can also select from preset backgrounds provided by the updated image model that Google rolled out last week. These presets feature options such as Bookshelf, Professional office, Tropical beach, Fantasy castle, Stylish living room, and Sci-fi spaceship, among others.

      For Google Chat, Gemini will automatically recognize and translate up to 120 languages into your preferred language, while still retaining the original message for review. For instance, if your business partner communicates in Japanese, it will translate the message to English almost instantly, but the original Japanese text will be preserved, saving you time on copying and pasting the foreign text into Google Translate.

      The new Gemini features are now available in both Business and Enterprise versions of Google Workspace.
