It’s time for fans to bid farewell to Natasha Romanoff. At least, that’s what Scarlett Johansson wants Marvel enthusiasts to do. In a discussion with InStyle, Johansson spoke about Black Widow’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Natasha infamously perished in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame when she made the ultimate sacrifice to acquire the Soul Stone. Despite her death, many fans hold onto the hope that she might return. Johansson is here to clarify the situation. “Natasha is dead. She is dead. She’s dead. OK?” she stated. “They just don't want to accept it. They say, ‘But she could come back!’ Look, the balance of the entire universe rests in her hands. We need to let it go. She saved the world. Let her have her moment as a hero.”
After Endgame, Johansson returned to her MCU role in 2021 for Black Widow, which remains her final appearance in Marvel. While Johansson affirmed Natasha’s demise, the character might potentially return, especially considering the existence of variants and the multiverse. For instance, Gamora, portrayed by Zoe Saldaña, died in Avengers: Infinity War but returned in Avengers: Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as a 2014 variant. Marvel Studios is also progressing towards 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. These films could involve around 60 MCU characters, making it plausible for Johansson’s Black Widow to reappear. Even if Johansson does come back, it will likely be shrouded in secrecy, like most Marvel narratives. For now, Johansson will concentrate on battling dinosaurs in Jurassic World Rebirth, set to hit theaters on July 2, 2025.

Red Sonja reboot gets an exciting update, release date window revealed
After two years in post-production, the Red Sonja reboot has received an exciting update. According to Deadline, Signature Entertainment has secured the UK and Irish rights to Red Sonja. The film produced by Millennium Media is anticipated to be released later this year. “Red Sonja epitomizes the kind of film we’re looking for at Signature – an epic story in a fantasy-laden world with a strong commercial appeal, which made it immediately attractive to us,” said Begüm Kayacan Parodi, Acquisitions Manager at Signature Entertainment. “We’re eager to introduce Matilda Lutz’s sword-wielding huntress to audiences in the UK and Ireland later this year.” Red Sonja is inspired by the comic book series by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith, with Robert E. Howard's Red Sonya of Rogatino from the short story The Shadow of the Vulture serving as partial inspiration. The fantasy movie follows Red Sonja, a barbarian huntress who gathers a group of warriors to confront the evil Dragan The Magnificent and his lethal bride, Dark Annisia. Matilda Lutz stars as Red Sonja, supported by a cast that includes Robert Sheehan, Wallis Day, Michael Bisping, Luca Pasqualino, Rhona Mitra, Martyn Ford, Ben Radcliffe, Eliza Matengu, Veronica Ferres, Phillip Winchester, and Trevor Eve.
Colman Domingo confirms Marvel talks, addresses Kang rumors: ‘I want a role to be mine’
Since the firing of Jonathan Majors from Marvel, Colman Domingo has been rumored to step into the role of Kang the Conqueror. While speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Domingo clarified his discussions with Marvel. Noting the frequent association of his name with Kang, Domingo and his team reached out to Marvel to verify the rumors. “When I kept seeing it in the press and on social media, I thought, ‘Wait a minute. Is this true? Am I being discussed for Kang?’” Domingo explained to Horowitz. “I called my team and asked, ‘Are you guys having conversations that I don’t know about?’ They said no. ‘Are you being secretive or what?’ They weren't. There had been discussions about my potential involvement in Marvel, so we followed up with a meeting with Marvel's leadership. We discussed the Marvel landscape and the rumors about Kang." Originally, Majors was set to portray Kang the Conqueror, poised to be the MCU's next significant villain, succeeding Josh Brolin's Thanos. Marvel let go of Majors in December 2023 after his conviction for reckless assault and harassment, prompting the need for a new actor to fill the role in the previously titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
