Google Gemini seeks access to your search history.

Google Gemini includes various functionalities, but until now, it has not requested access to your Google Search history. This changes with the launch of the company's new Gemini Personalization model. Android Authority found that this feature is included in the Google app beta (version 16.8.31).
When you select the Gemini Personalization model, a confirmation pop-up will appear. If you accept, you enable Gemini to access your search history, which allows the chatbot to offer more relevant answers. To utilize this feature, you need to ensure your Web & App Activity setting is activated.
This experimental version of Gemini is not designed to assist Google in its improvement, and you have the option to disconnect the model from your search history at any time.
During its limited testing, Android Authority confirmed that Gemini delivered accurate results based on its Google Search history using the new model. Nevertheless, it also pointed out that challenges can occur since the Gemini Personalization model is still experimental.
Google has not shared additional information about the new model nor announced when it will be accessible to the public. It may launch later today with the scheduled update for Gemini Advanced users.
Similar to other large language models, Gemini is trained on a vast dataset that includes text and code. Thus, it relies on a wide array of information, including search results, to enhance its performance. However, until now, Gemini has not requested access to personalized search results to improve its functionality on an individual level.
It will be intriguing to see how users of Gemini Advanced respond to the Gemini Personalization model. As an Advanced user, I plan to take the opportunity to test it out. However, this may lead to further discussions regarding AI and privacy. I hope this tool remains optional instead of being made a standard feature in Gemini. Only time will tell.

Perplexity surpasses Gemini and ChatGPT with a fantastic AI free tool.
What if you instruct an AI chatbot to search the internet, find a specific type of source, and then compile a detailed report based on all the information it collects? Well, Gemini can accomplish this for $20 a month, or $200 monthly if you prefer ChatGPT. Perplexity will do it for free, up to a few times a day. Perplexity has named its new tool Deep Research, similar to offerings from OpenAI and Google Gemini before it.
Google enhances Gemini with a memory feature for more natural conversations.
Google is finally introducing a vital new feature to Gemini that addresses a significant issue in interacting with its AI chatbot. The company is enabling a memory feature that allows Gemini to recall details from previous conversations. “Whether you’re asking about something you’ve already discussed or requesting a summary of a prior chat, Gemini now utilizes information from relevant discussions to formulate a response,” a Google update states.
If you're subscribed to Google’s One AI Premium plan, you now receive NotebookLM Plus for free.
According to The Verge, Google is including the premium features of NotebookLM Plus in its One AI Premium monthly subscription plan. This encompasses more customization options and increased usage limits, along with added security. If you're unfamiliar with NotebookLM, it has been available since 2023, and the Plus plan debuted in December of last year. It's described as an AI-powered research assistant and note-taking app, but it is not solely trained on generic internet content like conventional LLMs.
