The second season of The Last of Us has announced the addition of six actors to its supporting cast. According to Variety, one of these actors is Joe Pantoliano, an Emmy Award winner renowned for his role as Ralphie Cifaretto in The Sopranos. Pantoliano, also known as Joey Pants, will portray Eugene, a minor character from the video game. While players never actually meet Eugene, they see his image when Ellie and Dina visit his cannabis lab.

In an interview with Variety, Neil Druckmann, the co-creator and executive producer of The Last of Us, shared his enthusiasm for opportunities to delve deeper into the stories of minor characters. "I’m like, ‘Oh, I don’t know Eugene that well,’" Druckmann remarked. "The story we told [in the game] was somewhat superficial. The way this character comes in really gets to the heart of Joel and Ellie and their relationship."

Alongside Pantoliano, Alanna Ubach, Ben Ahlers, Hettienne Park, Robert John Burke, and Noah Lamanna have also joined the cast for the second season. Burke will portray Seth, the manager of a bar in the Jackson community, while Lamanna will play Kat, a girl who dated Ellie prior to the events of The Last of Us Part II. Ubach, Ahlers, and Park will be seen in original roles created for the series.

The Last of Us Season 2 is set to take place five years after the events of Season 1 and features Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Gabriel Luna and Rutina Wesley will return as Tommy and Maria, respectively. A significant addition to the Season 2 cast is Kaitlyn Dever, who will portray Abby, a character pivotal to the paths of Joel and Ellie. Other cast members for the season include Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, and Catherine O'Hara in a guest-starring role.

The Last of Us Season 2 is scheduled to premiere at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 13. Watch the series on HBO or stream it on Max.
