You don't have to be an audiophile to appreciate the allure of vinyl records, and you certainly don't need to break the bank doing it. This is the premise that UK audio manufacturer Mixx is relying on with its newly introduced Revival 55, a retro-styled all-in-one suitcase record player that is ideal for vinyl beginners or casual listeners, priced at an accessible $100.
The compact player showcases retro aesthetics, available in black, cream, green, pink, and turquoise pastel shades, all encased in a protective PU (polyurethane) leather exterior. Its chrome-plated buckles add a nostalgic touch and securely fasten the lid, making it easy to transport the small device.

Internally, the Revival 55 features a belt-driven turntable designed for quiet operation. Although its construction is mainly plastic, it offers all the necessary features for a novice user. The Revival 55 is equipped with built-in speakers, an auto-stop function that powers off the player at the end of a record (to protect both the needle and your records), speed control options for 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM vinyl, and a mechanical tone-arm lever for gently raising and lowering the needle on and off the records.
The Mixx Revival 55 also includes several features that are not commonly found, even on some of the more advanced turntables, such as a pitch control dial for adjusting the speed of songs and two-way Bluetooth connectivity, which allows you to play records wirelessly through Bluetooth speakers and stream music from your smartphone and music apps like Spotify or Apple Music to the record player.

Additionally, you can utilize the Revival 55’s AUX input for connecting wired sources or use its line level output to link to an amplifier or a set of powered speakers for an enhanced audio experience.

Victrola’s Re-Spin offers a sustainable option for suitcase record players
Victrola has introduced a new choice for vinyl enthusiasts seeking a portable way to enjoy their favorite records: the $99 Victrola Re-Spin, a retro-inspired suitcase record player with a focus on sustainability. The Re-Spin was unveiled at CES 2022 and is set to launch in the third quarter of 2022 for $100, available in blue, green, gray, and red at victrola.com and major retailers.
Regarding the Re-Spin's sustainability, the emphasis is on using less material rather than simply incorporating more eco-friendly materials like recycled plastics or bamboo. The company intends to reduce the size and weight of the Re-Spin by over 20% compared to traditional suitcase record players once it goes into production.
