Tesla announces Model Y electric car in China
Tesla has unveiled an updated version of the Model Y in an attempt to strengthen its position in the highly competitive electric car market. The updated Model Y has been given an increased range of up to 719 kilometers on a single charge, up from the previous figure of 688 kilometers. The exterior of the car has changed thanks to new LED strips across the width of the front and rear, as well as updated front and rear headlights, which make the design more modern. The interior of the car has been improved: there are heated and ventilated seats that provide comfort in all weather conditions, and a touch screen has been added for second row passengers. The updated model will cost 263,500 yuan, which is 5.4 percent higher than the price of the previous version. The car will be assembled at Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory and deliveries will begin in March 2025 after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals.Image: tesla.cn The body of the car has also been modified, with engineers replacing the classic headlights with an LED strip and adding a spoiler at the rear. The Model Y is now equipped with 20-inch wheels and can accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.3 seconds. There is an additional camera in the front of the body to operate the autopilot and parking assistant. The interior of the car retains a conventional steering wheel, unlike some new Tesla models such as the Cybertruck, which got a steering wheel. The turn indicator buttons have also been replaced by a classic paddle shifter. The new version features ergonomic driver and passenger seats, sturdier windows and an additional screen for the back row. Earlier, Tesla CEO Ilon Musk said that full autopilot will appear in the company's cars as early as 2025, but Tesla does not yet have permission to test fully unmanned vehicles on public roads. These changes underscore the company's desire to adapt to the demands of the Chinese market and increase competition with local electric car manufacturers such as BYD and Xiaomi. Meanwhile, many of the fueling stations in Russia are also preparing for the growth in electric car sales, and will be reducing liquid fuel stocks by installing charging stations for electric cars in the near future.
