The company has officially opened preorders for the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, a translucent green anniversary console inspired by the original Xbox, which includes a full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Production of this console will be limited, with each unit being individually numbered and engraved. Microsoft stated that preorders initially started with email invitations sent to some of Xbox's most passionate fans before becoming available to a broader audience on August 27 in selected markets.
The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition draws its visual inspiration from the translucent OG Green design linked to the original Xbox generation. Additionally, Microsoft has incorporated hidden details and references that celebrate notable moments from Xbox's 25-year journey.
The anniversary edition goes beyond just a visual makeover; purchasers will also get a full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remastered version of the campaign that established Halo as a flagship franchise for Xbox.
Every console will have a unique engraving and specific numbering, emphasizing its collectible nature rather than being just a special edition. This is important as Microsoft has confirmed that preorders are restricted to one Xbox 25th Anniversary Collection per customer.
The collection is priced at $899.99, which is considerably higher than the standard Xbox Series X. Pricing and availability may differ by region, with local Microsoft Stores and authorized retailers managing regional sales. The console is set to launch on November 13, 2026.
Additionally, players who want the aesthetic without spending almost $900 on the console can purchase the Xbox 25 Special Edition Wireless Controller separately. This controller features a translucent OG Green finish and nostalgic design elements related to Xbox's heritage.
The controller will be available earlier, starting on October 20, with preorders already open in selected markets.
