Gears of War: E-Day appears to be grimmer and more ruthless than before.

      **Gears of War: E-Day**

The release of Gears of War: E-Day is nearing, and if you were wishing for a moment of respite for Marcus Fenix before the launch, the latest trailer brings some unfortunate news for him.

The Coalition unveiled a new story trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live, providing an additional look at the early moments of humanity's conflict with the Locust. More significantly, it introduces a particularly unpleasant new foe who seems intent on exacerbating an already dire situation. At one point, someone even gets Emulsion poured directly over their head. It’s clear that E-Day is not gently reintroducing us to the Gears universe.

Marcus Fenix is having a rough day

The trailer features Marcus and Bravo Squad extensively as they struggle to survive the fast-declining situation in Kalona. We also catch a glimpse of the immense threat as the squad delves underground and uncovers a large Locust force amassing below. That’s definitely not something one wants to encounter.

Unsurprisingly, Marcus isn’t about to retreat. He pushes forward despite the increasingly hopeless circumstances around him, which provides E-Day ample opportunity to showcase a younger version of the character before he transforms into the battle-hardened soldier fans are familiar with from the original games. The campaign aims to reflect the intensifying chaos through a three-act structure, depicting progressively desperate conditions as the Locust invasion unfolds.

      E-Day looks incredibly impressive

Beyond the explosions, monsters, and general despair, the trailer also serves as an impressive display of the game’s visuals. Character faces are highly detailed, with expressions appearing notably more natural, and there are some wonderfully meticulous details throughout. At one moment, you can even see individual droplets of water on characters’ faces. It’s the type of detail that may go unnoticed while trying to survive against the Locust, but it enhances the cinematic moments significantly.

      Gears of War: E-Day

And because it's Gears of War, the trailer doesn’t just fade to black. It concludes with the unmistakable roar of a Chainsaw Lancer revving up. Some things are simply meant to remain constant. Gears of War: E-Day is set to launch on October 6 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. The campaign is expected to last over 14 hours and will allow players to control different members of Bravo Squad. Additionally, there will be plenty of activities available after the main story concludes, including Horde Siege co-op and a comprehensive selection of multiplayer modes.

**The Witcher 3 turns 11, and CD Projekt Red continues to release remasters and expansions to keep us engaged**

Still waiting on Witcher 4? Bad luck! Here’s Witcher 3 once again with a fresh expansion pack.

When I acquired my first gaming laptop nearly ten years ago, Witcher 3 was among the first games I played. I could finally experience the game with high graphics settings and fully immerse myself in its fantasy world. After spending an excessive amount of time on it, I completed its main story and DLCs. Now, eleven years later, I can hardly believe I'm gearing up to return. At Gamescom Opening Night Live, the studio announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, a comprehensive free upgrade launching on September 29. The audience was already filled with excitement, and then they showcased more of Songs of the Past, a massive 2027 expansion that will take Geralt to a completely new region for what CD Projekt Red now describes as his final adventure. Eleven years after the original launch of The Witcher 3, I suddenly have a very compelling reason to start a new save.

**NO LAW appears to capture the essence of Cyberpunk 2077, and honestly, I’m here for it**

The developer of The Ascent presents a new open-world shooter that combines stealth, hacking, shooting, and impactful choices in a recognizably cyberpunk city.

Neon Giant, the team behind The Ascent, has finally provided us with our first true look at NO LAW gameplay, and I’m already intrigued. This first-person cyber-noir shooter takes place in the lawless port city of Port Desire, where you assume the role of veteran Grey Harker and can approach challenges through stealth, shooting, hacking, and a general disregard for others' property. The game is set to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It brings to mind elements of Cyberpunk, Thief, and Deus Ex — and I have no complaints.

Metro 2039 is pulling me back underground, and it looks grim.

Metro Exodus demonstrated that this series could thrive outside the confines of the Moscow Metro.
