Nintendo has removed an additional 400 Switch emulator repositories from GitHub.
Hundreds of repositories vanished in one fell swoop as Nintendo continues its crackdown on projects it claims promote piracy.
Nintendo's fight against Switch emulation shows no signs of slowing down. The company is reported to have targeted over 400 repositories related to Switch emulators on GitHub in a single day, marking yet another large-scale takedown effort against projects it believes encourage piracy. This latest action is part of Nintendo's ongoing strict monitoring of software and repositories associated with unauthorized copies of its games.
Another day, another GitHub cleanup
According to a report from TorrentFreak, the recent sweep impacted hundreds of repositories, with Suyu, a fork of the now-defunct Yuzu emulator, being a major contributor to the takedowns. Other projects, such as MonoNX and Skyline, were also reportedly affected by this initiative.
This is not uncharted territory for Nintendo. After successfully shutting down Yuzu in 2024, the company has persistently pursued forks and related repositories on GitHub. The outcome has resulted in a somewhat predictable digital game of whack-a-mole: one emulator vanishes, another fork surfaces, and Nintendo issues more takedown requests, causing the cycle to repeat.
Nintendo's stance is unmistakable
Nintendo's official policy on piracy makes no differentiation between an emulator being used for legitimate purposes and one being used to enable piracy. The company states that its intellectual property enforcement program targets unauthorized copies of Nintendo games as well as circumvention devices and software used to play them. Furthermore, emulator software is explicitly mentioned among the scope of its enforcement actions.
This provides Nintendo with a clear rationale to continue its efforts, especially when repositories contain material the company believes aids users in bypassing the Switch’s protections or playing unauthorized game copies. The recent GitHub sweep thus appears to be less of a sporadic purge and more of a continuation of Nintendo’s long-standing strategy.
Given the substantial number of repositories reportedly removed in one go, it is evident that Nintendo is not interested in allowing the Switch emulator scene to quietly reestablish itself. While repositories may resurface in different forms, so does Nintendo’s ability to remove them.

Riot Games will end active development of 2XKO, its ambitious fighting game set in the League of Legends universe, in December 2026.
